Penn is getting an elite playmaker in King, a guy we feel is talented enough to not only play at the FBS level, but to make an early impact there. Our highest-rated FCS commit in the state, he can fly, and this season he’s showing he’s a well-rounded defender. He’s leading the Cleveland defenses in tackles and sacks, while showing once again that he’s one of the best linebackers in coverage.

King is one of the most athletic linebackers we’ve tracked in this cycle and he had a breakout offseason after a strong junior campaign. He can move sideline-to-sideline or get downhill to impact ball carriers. He had 88 tackles, including 23 for loss and nine sacks last season, flashing as a blitzer and in pass coverage. This year, he looks even better, so don’t be surprised if he puts up another fantastic season.

Jaylen is fast becoming one of my favorite players to write about. I thought he did a great job at the Gardner Webb Mega Camp, where he earned an offer from the Bulldogs. Jaylen also fit in well at this camp, sporting a 4.2 overall GPA. The exciting thing about Jaylen is that he competed as an EDGE player at this camp, and it looked natural to him. Jaylen measured in at 6’4 at the Gardner Webb Camp, so he’s still growing into his body, and he looked very quick coming off the football from this spot. He’s going to get a lot more college interest moving forward.

Jaylen is a player that I really like – as an outside linebacker/rover type of player, Jaylen gets into the backfield with very good speed. Jaylen also shows good ability to play in space against slot receivers and support against the run. The interesting thing is Jaylen measured at 6’4, so he’s still physically growing with that athletic ability, we could see a riser from a recruiting perspective here. Jaylen picked up an offer from Gardner-Webb after his camp performance.

King rocketed up our board after a dominant performance at our Prep Redzone NC combine and colleges have since caught on. King has earned recent Ivy League scholarships to go with an Army offer, and the type of schools offering him is a testament to his character and work ethic. Personally, I think with some more weight he’s a true Group of Five prospect. Expect a huge senior year from a guy who is just hitting his stride as a prospect.
