Ankeny Centennial</strong> <strong>(3-0) –</strong> In what is already a wild 5A season, the Jaguars move to the head of the class with a decisive, 31-14 victory Friday night at previously top-ranked Cedar Falls. They also won at Ankeny, which defeated last week's No. 2, Dowling, on Friday. Centennial didn't have statistics from the win at Cedar Falls entered into Bound at time of publishing these rankings. Dowling Catholic</strong> <strong>(2-1) </strong>– The Maroons stayed at No. 2 even with a 23-16 loss on Friday at previously winless Ankeny. If that score shocked you, you've not been paying attention. Central Iowa is a gauntlet. Anyway, back to Dowling. Nothing changed with the setback. It's still one of the top state title contenders. One of the main reasons is the running game, where [player_tooltip player_id='847998' first='Rashawd' last='Davis'] rushed for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns at Ankeny. The Tigers won at three-time defending state champion Southeast Polk in Game 1, and took down visiting Johnston, 34-24, this past Friday. Junior QB [player_tooltip player_id='401870' first='Drake' last='DeGroote'] was on the money for the Tigers, completing 22 of 24 passes for 262 yards and four TDs without an interception.
