Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Bakker was sidelined with an injury when Waukee faced Liberty in the first round of the 2024 5A playoffs. I watched the Warriors miss him during that contest. Bakker was in the lineup when I saw his team in a first-round rematch with the Lightning on Halloween night. He also was up against it taking on an aggressive and fast defense applying pressure. Bakker fought hard with the rest of his team, hitting some important throws and picking up tough yards on the ground. Schools might like him as a signal caller, but he’s best described as a good, tough football player. Keep an open mind positionally and focus on the traits. There’s physicality, athleticism and quickness.

is back at the helm for the final time this season. Bakker is a sturdy quarterback that isn’t taken down easily when he runs, and is technically sound as a thrower. Throwing a tight ball, maneuvering in the pocket, hitting deep passes to the outside and shots over the middle of the field, Bakker is set up for another stellar season this fall.
Seeking to catapult his production forward once again after an uber-efficient junior campaign where he completed over 68% of his passes and threw for 19 touchdowns to just two picks, Bakker looks as confident as ever. If he plays like he did on Friday, Bakker and the Warriors will be among the most formidable teams in 5A.

has experienced exponential growth in his performance since becoming the starting QB for Waukee as a freshman. Bakker engineered his best campaign so far in 2024, throwing for 1582 yards, 19 touchdowns, and only 2 interceptions. He added 472 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Bakker has improved as a sharp passer, showing great control on his touch and depth of his passes. Bakker plays well throwing on the run, and he possesses impressive breakaway speed for a QB. Bakker is a tough competitor, and his progress over his 3 years as a starter has been impressive to watch. Expect him to bring it all together heading into a highly anticipated senior campaign.
