Nebo began to flash upside as a sophomore last season, when I saw Waukee take on Liberty in the first round of the 5A playoffs. When scouting the rematch on Halloween night, Nebo proved he’d made significant strides during the last year. He grew physically, played faster and looked more confident. It led to a team-best 44.5 tackles coming into the postseason. Twenty nine of the stops were solo and one was for loss. He also intercepted a pass. Nebo probably fits best as a flexible safety on the next level, where he can run with slot receivers and tight ends or get downhill in supporting the run. His frame still has room to fill out while adding strength and not losing the athleticism. He’s a guy that should hit the college camp circuit in the summer.

On a veteran team with a lot of talent, Nebo made the most of his opportunities on the varsity in 2024. The sophomore delivered six solo tackles and intercepted a pass. The performance set the stage for what could be a breakout season for Nebo this fall. When watching his 10th-grade highlights, we witness a locked in defensive back and a very dangerous kick returner. Nebo looks comfortable at slot corner with the skills for covering and stepping up against the run. He embraces the game’s physicality. Nebo also shows potential as a versatile offensive player, capable of doing a lot of damage in space.
