Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Here’s an under-the-radar prospect that’s been a victim of circumstance. He took over as the Rams’ QB1 in ’24 after backing up Iowa State recruit Connor Moberly last year. Hansen’s first year as the starter ended with Southeast Polk winning its fourth state championship in a row. He improved as the year advanced, playing his best football in the postseason. He boasts a strong arm and can beat defenses with his legs, too. Hansen is an excellent athlete, finishing second at 215 pounds during last year’s state wrestling meet. His leadership skills also stand out.

Hanson flashes potential in his first year as a starter. If he can find more consistency and accuracy, he possess the skills need to make it at the next level. It starts with a strong arm capable of making difficult throws around the field. He tosses a tight ball out of a quick release. His sound footwork allows him to use his lower half as he steps into his passes. Hansen is a good athlete that can pick up yards on designed runs and keep plays alive off schedule.
