I’m sure the SEP Rams are more than thrilled to have breakout sophomore Brennan Swanson Brennan Swanson 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Southeast Polk | 2027 State IA transfer over from Ames. The shifty wideout had a great season last fall in which he recorded 33 receptions for 540 yards and four touchdowns. Brennan played and projects best as a slot receiver who can use his quick twitch to route up defenders at all levels of the field. Brennan is very skilled at exploiting his opponent’s leverage and forcing them to shift their hips, thereby putting them out of position. Once he’s gotten DBs to bite, he’s able to turn up the gas with underrated acceleration to slip past them and stretch the field vertically. Swanson is also good after the catch, with great vision and elusiveness to make defenders whiff and go off for a big gain. Reliable hands and at creating separation for himself. Effective when receiving the ball in space and allowing him to work with blockers in front of him.

During a not-great 2024 for Ames, Swanson was a bright spot. He caught 33 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns on an offense with a Division I receiver and a well-stocked positional group overall. Swanson is a handful in the slot, as we see when watching his sophomore highlight video. He runs crisp routes, has a burst and the ability to haul in tough catches in traffic or while sitting down in the holes in the zone defense. Swanson also has a knack for securing sideline throws even if they’re shorter with zip on them. Although he didn’t return punts or kicks last season, according to Bound, his skill set fits with what’s required for success in doing so.
