emerged as one of the unit’s brightest spots. Brandhorst finished with 579 yards on 38 receptions and 3 touchdowns in 2024. Brandhorst has quickly caught on with Ankeny’s offense, and that combination of size, strength, and great hands has made him a reliable threat for the team. Brandhorst should continue to receive a strong load of targets in 2025 despite playing for a passing offense that spreads the ball well to multiple receivers.

I caught Brandhorst in action when the Hawks played at Iowa City Liberty late in the regular season. He mixes a solid frame with quickness and clean routes. As you can see when viewing his junior highlight video, Brandhorst wins a lot of his matches off of the line and then by getting in and out of his breaks efficiently. He looks fast and very comfortable playing the position on film. Brandhorst caught 38 passes for 579 yards and three touchdowns as a junior on a Ankeny offense with a lot of mouths to feed.

Brandhorst impressed on his video highlights and did not disappointment during Friday’s in-person scouting opportunity. His frame stands out first. Brandhorst is a physical receiver capable of outmuscling defenders. His athleticism and leaping ability complement that when winning contested balls. It makes him very dangerous in the red zone. Brandhorst plays fast, getting in and out of breaks quickly, which helps his speed play up. Brandhorst’s seven receptions for 80 yards in this game included a 29-yard touchdown catch.
