Expert Analysis
Austin Lowell | Prep Redzone Scout
Rounding out this list is Grant Fischer Grant Fischer 5'7" | 150 lbs | DB Ankeny | 2028 IA , a smaller DB who made a big impact for Ankeny’s secondary last season. Fischer recorded 20 tackles, 7 PBUs, and 2 INTs in his sophomore season. Playing often as an outside CB, Fischer played very well defending the deep ball, showing great arm extension and hand placement to knock passes away and being able to keep up with receivers toe-to-toe. Fischer also flashed good vision and anticipation on quick passes, reading the QB knowing when to break to the line to shut down the short pass game. Fischer stands tall among the Hawks’ secondary, playing behind his size as an excellent CB who can line up with his opponents’ No. 1 WR very well.

Fischer impacted the action for the Hawks as a sophomore in 2025. That’s usually a good sign for the future when a student-athlete accomplishes something that early in the Ankeny program. He registered 20.0 tackles, 12 of which were solo stops, with a half tackle for loss and a half sack. Fischer picked off a pair of passes and was credited with seven passes defended. His 2025 highlight video impresses. While not the biggest guy on the field, he’s physical and a technically sound tackler. In coverage, he back pedals and changes directions smoothly. Fischer is smart and instinctual in the secondary. He’s one to watch moving forward and stops at college camps this summer could be beneficial.
