Soulinthavong didn’t put up any statistics on an Ankeny varsity that made its annual appearance in the Class 5A playoffs, but the freshman was listed on the top team’s roster. That’s a hint the future is bright in a program that consistently ranks among the state’s best at producing prospects for the next level. Soulinthavong certainly displays the ability to help the Hawk varsity as early as next season during his ninth-grade highlight video. On it, we witness a series of long runs thanks to getting downhill in a hurry and hitting the jets once finding some daylight. He’s also a threat as a receiver coming out of the backfield. He lists his 40-yard dash time at 4.67 seconds with an impressive 16 reps of 185 pounds on the bench press. Soulinthavong reports a 28.5-inch vertical leap and a 425 pounds on the squat.
