Cooper got his feet wet on the Ankeny varsity in 2025, catching a pair of passes for 13 yards while also developing on other levels of the program. That work was paying off this fall, when the speedy and shifty wideout was leading the unbeaten Hawks with 10 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. The junior also was returning kicks. The evidence for success was there on his sophomore highlight video, particularly when watching him work out of the slot. The transition to a higher level of competition looks seamless when watching video against Waukee and Waukee Northwest. Cooper is smooth working out of the slo and a handful to contain in space. He operates nicely running routes in the middle of the field or burning defenses off of short throws near the line of scrimmage. It’s a set of skills that could work well in the return game.
