Each week I will pick the top seven games in Southern California and break them down.

I had another strong week last week going 6-1.

BRENTWOOD VS. PALISADES

This is a bit of a local rivalry between two West LA schools. Palisades is 3-0 and coming off a nice win over Granada Hills Charter. Junior quarterback Jack Thomas threw for 309 yards with fur touchdowns in the win and King Demethris had 145 yards receiving with two touchdowns. Brentwood is coming off a loss to a good Ontario Christian team but dominated City Section's King/Drew earlier this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1611270' first='Ben' last='Mikail'] is Brentwood's quarterback who has six touchdowns and one interception. Addison Patrick Stirling is a quality two-way player for the Eagles.

The pick: Brentwood

https://twitter.com/AddisonStirl1ng/status/1830304871783768069

LOS ALAMITOS VS. ST. PAUL

Los Alamitos lost last week to a very good Mililani team of Hawaii. [player_tooltip player_id='1598356' first='Lenny' last='Ibarra'] and [player_tooltip player_id='221860' first='Jerod' last='Terry Jr']. both averaged over 100 yards per game on the ground through the first two games and Cal commit [player_tooltip player_id='282704' first='Alonzo' last='Esparza'] rarely makes mistakes at quarterback. [player_tooltip player_id='1344401' first='Jackson' last='Raguse'] leads the defense and [player_tooltip player_id='1158481' first='Justice' last='Croffie'] is a talented underclassman defensive back. St. Paul got a bit of a taste of humble pie from Damien last week but is still a very good team. Joseph Lafferre will have to have a big game on both sides of the ball for St. Paul to have a chance.

The pick: Los Alamitos

https://twitter.com/iamJerodTerry/status/1831542982421704987

VISTA MURRIETA VS. BISHOP AMAT

Bishop Amat is coming off a bye and has had two weeks to stew over its loss to St. Paul. [player_tooltip player_id='406732' first='Frankie' last='Villalbazo'] is a capable quarterback who can make some huge plays. Ryan Salcedo ran the ball effectively in Amat's first game. Vista Murrieta is 3-0 and beat a very good Orange Vista team last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1000959' first='Bryson' last='Beaver'] is one of the more efficient quarterbacks in the area and threw for 278 yards with two touchdowns in that win. [player_tooltip player_id='780348' first='Tyler' last='Caldwell'] has emerged as a top receiver along with Sean McCullough. Vista Murrieta is very good in the special teams game as well.

The pick: Vista Murrieta

https://twitter.com/BrysonBeaverQB/status/1833673005492584860

YORBA LINDA VS. CHARTER OAK

Yorba Linda lost a close game to San Jacinto last week but was awarded the win via forfeit. Cole Nerio has been a pleasant surprise for the Mustangs at running back. [player_tooltip player_id='1158506' first='Holden' last='Nagin'] has come up big in clutch moments for Yorba Linda this season, but I'd like to see him do a little more with the offense. Charter Oak is 3-0 after its playoff run last season and has some serious playmakers. Boston College commit [player_tooltip player_id='1182939' first='Corin' last='Berry'] is averaging 271 yards per game with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions. [player_tooltip player_id='1338365' first='Legend' last='Lyons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='723863' first='Marquis' last='Bradley'] are tough matchups for Yorba Linda to cover.

The pick: Yorba Linda

https://twitter.com/coachmark_48/status/1832287541225001339

SAN JUAN HILLS VS. CREAN LUTHERAN

San Juan Hills played a tough Higley of Arizona last week and lost its first game. [player_tooltip player_id='283687' first='Timmy' last='Herr'] was effective in the passing game with 261 yards. The Stallions' linebacking corps is one of the best in the county with [player_tooltip player_id='155848' first='Weston' last='Port'], Tanner Rohan and Greg Blomdahl. Crean Lutheran is 3-0 but hasn't played anyone nearly as good as San Juan Hills yet. [player_tooltip player_id='1197336' first='Caden' last='Jones'] has been excellent at quarterback and [player_tooltip player_id='282721' first='Carter' last='Jones'] leads the defense. This matchup is tough for the Stallions because they haven't been able to run the ball well the last two weeks and big [player_tooltip player_id='282745' first='Tyler' last='Parker'] is in the middle for Crean Lutheran. But I still think this is a big jump in competition for the Saints.

The pick: San Juan Hills

https://twitter.com/PortWeston/status/1832518733090451894

OAKS CHRISTIAN VS. SANTA MARGARITA

Santa Margarita had to adjust last week and turn to James Johnson at quarterback. He came up big in a win over Liberty of Bakersfield and utilized targets [player_tooltip player_id='1197564' first='Jack' last='Junker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='283690' first='Trent' last='Mosley']. Santa Margarita's secondary, led by Luke Anderson [player_tooltip player_id='1288067' first='Logan' last='Hirou'] and [player_tooltip player_id='977697' first='Ca'ron' last='Williams'] can force turnovers. Oaks Christian dominated Roosevelt of Eastvale last week. Freshman Trey Towns Jr. played quarterback for the Lions in that game and threw five touchdown passes. I'm interested in seeing if Santa Margarita tackle [player_tooltip player_id='976941' first='Elijah' last='Vaikona'] will match up against fellow USC commit [player_tooltip player_id='282732' first='Hayden' last='Lowe'] in this one.

The pick: Oaks Christian

https://twitter.com/SMCHS_Football/status/1833205421236228117

JSERRA VS. LINCOLN

Kudos to Lincoln for challenging itself against top teams from the Southern Section. Oregon commit [player_tooltip player_id='406658' first='Akili' last='Smith Jr.'] has all the tools and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1197366' first='Jordan' last='Roa'] is capable at quarterback as well. [player_tooltip player_id='1183032' first='Aden' last='Jackson'] had a huge game last week against Coronado of Nevada and [player_tooltip player_id='406718' first='Ty' last='Olsen'] is a big play guy at receiver. Lincoln's defense had four interceptions last week. [player_tooltip player_id='406653' first='Logan' last='Christensen'] had a big kick return touchdown last week for JSerra in a win over Clovis North. [player_tooltip player_id='1284693' first='Ryan' last='Hopkins'] has been excellent at quarterback this season for JSerra and the Lions have an excellent offensive line. JSerra is better in the trenches and should be able to win this one.

The pick: JSerra

https://twitter.com/JSerraAthletics/status/1832296222239158719

HUNTLEY'S RECORD: 17-4

Each week I will pick the top seven games in Southern California and break them down.
