About Akili
Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Smith has been a high-level prospect for years now and he did what top quarterbacks do: perform well in the playoffs. His best games of the year came against the best teams.
He was excellent in Lincoln’s season-opening loss to Arbor View and he was unbelievable in the regional title game against Newbury Park and the state championship against Pittsburg. His accuracy has improved tremendously and he’s much better as a runner than he was as a rising prospect.

Smith has long been a national recruit fielding offers from almost every power five school in the country and has elite traits and throwing mechanics with under-rated athleticism as well. The Oregon Ducks commit threw for 171 yards and 3 scores, while adding another score on the ground as well in the 1-AA state title game against a loaded Pittsburg team.
Lincoln has won two state titles in three years and has plenty of young talent emerging through the ranks. Expect the Hornets to be positioned to play into December for the next few years and possibly bring more state titles home.

Smith threw for 263 yards with three touchdowns and ran for 89 yards with a touchdown in Lincoln’s thrilling win over Newbury Park.
He has always had a big arm but his accuracy in the redzone was impressive and you can really see how much he has improved his speed. Smith is a pocket passer but scrambles for big yardage and makes very good throws on the run.

Smith was up and down at the Elite 11 Finals but when he was good, he was very good. He had one of the best rounds in the Accuracy Challenge on Day 2 and his timing was good on Day 3. Smith is better in real games than in a camp setting but he has upside and held his own.

Smith led Lincoln to a San Diego Section Open Division championship game appearance.
He throws one of the best deep balls in the class and has a good sense of when to fire the ball in there and when to put touch on the ball. Smith has thrown 54 touchdown passes in the last two seasons.
