The Martinsburg Bulldogs have appeared in 10 State Championship games since 2010 and have won all 10 of them including last season's win over now Class AAA Princeton. The Bulldogs will be looking to defend their 2023 title with a retooled roster that has enjoyed some additions from fellow EPAC foes and is primed for another long playoff run. Martinsburg loses some top-end talent as they do every year but returned and added enough talent to make the Bulldogs dangerous once again. They'll face their perennial EPAC schedule with some program foes on the upswing as well as a pair of DC teams and a Hurricane squad with D1 prospects on the roster in the final week of the season. While the 2024 version may look different from last year, Martinsburg will once again be a contender in the new Class AAAA and the predicted favorite by many.

2025 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='865706' first='Koi' last='Fagan'] is ready for his turn as QB1 of the Martinsburg Bulldogs and has waited patiently for his opportunity as a senior. Fagan was a dynamic 1-2 punch in the Bulldogs' backfield last season with [player_tooltip player_id='908988' first='Nick' last='Busky'] and is an overall high-level athlete with D1 attention. In his first season at running back in 2023, Fagan earned Second Team All-State honors and rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and 19 touchdowns. He's a natural playmaker with the ball in his hands and could translate to a few different positions at the next level. The evidence of his arm talent in live game situations has been limited to this point and we're anxious to see how that part of Fagan's game looks this season.

Martinsburg has had a ton of success with quarterbacks through the years and Fagan may be the next great one in line this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='908988' first='Nick' last='Busky'] is a two-way star for the Bulldogs and a First Team All-State performer at linebacker in addition to his prowess as a running back. We like him more as a running back prospect where he ranks #2 overall and in the Top 20 for the 2025 class. Busky is a D1 prospect in our eyes and should receive opportunities from that level this season with another strong year. He has the combination of speed and power that you're looking for in a D1 running back and is a multi-faceted athlete who can do a lot of different things for your team. Busky is a versatile runner who can get tough yards between the tackles or break loose from defenders in the open field to take it the distance. That translates to the defensive side of the ball as well at linebacker which makes it tough to take him off the field.

Look for Busky to have his best season yet in a retooled Martinsburg offense that will likely rely on their running game heavily this season.

Former Musselman DL [player_tooltip player_id='487112' first='Zavier' last='Pollard'] was a great addition to the Martinsburg program and will fit in nicely in the interior of their defensive line which needed some new faces this season. Pollard is committed to D1 Davidson and has been a great player in the past and will continue that with his new team.

Here's what we recently said about Pollard in our 2025 rankings Stock Risers article:

Pollard will be making the move from Musselman to perennial state power Martinsburg this season and should make an immediate impact for the defending state champions along the defensive interior. Pollard has made strides in increasing in size and has always had the athleticism and style of play to put him in the conversation of top DL in the state. Now in the 6'0 260 range, Pollard is primed for his best season yet with a lot of talent around him that could open more opportunities for him in the stat book. His wrestling background also aids his efforts on the football field a ton and is another trait we love in linemen."

The potential is through the roof with 2025 Martinsburg OL [player_tooltip player_id='370776' first='Brady' last='Breeden'] who has been developing over the past few years and is ready to finally have his breakout season as a senior in 2024. He's a very long 6'6 athlete who has done a great job developing his body through the years and should put it all together during his final year. His journey as an OL prospect will continue past this season as he's far from a finished product still, but Breeden has a very high ceiling for the position and will develop into a quality college starter in time.

Another 2025 Martinsburg offensive lineman with a lot of potential to know is [player_tooltip player_id='908152' first='Peyton' last='Kaufman']. His future might be at long snapper given his 6'5 235 frame, but if he can bulk up to the needed size for a college OL his potential is very high. Kaufman anchors the Bulldogs' line at center and is a quality athlete who handles those duties well given his length and size for the position. He packs a lot of power into his frame and is a strong athlete which makes it scary to think what he could develop into one day with added mass. Kaufman compeges at a high level on film and does a nice job of finishing blocks and battling until the whistle.

2025 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1293973' first='Kyree' last='Bunny'] saw limited action last season with a few small glimpses of what he can do on film, but his potential and upside are very high with a breakout senior season in the making. He's a long basketball athlete who should have his time to shine this year as the Bulldogs will be looking for receivers to step up in 2024 after losing most of their production from last season.

Here's what we recently said about Bunny in our 2025 rankings New Additions article:

"We typically don't like to make projections this late into the rankings cycle, but sometimes you have to make exceptions with prospects you know are going to have a breakout year. More known for his work on the basketball court at this time, Bunny has a very high ceiling as a football prospect and will likely showcase that this fall. We don't have a ton of film of him to evaluate right now, but at 6'4 and the athleticism that he possesses, Bunny's potential on the football field warranted some notoriety heading into his senior season."

Another Bulldog who should step up and have an increased role this season is 2025 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1034976' first='Ace' last='Flores']. Flores showed flashes as a junior of becoming one of the top linebackers in this class and should have a full-time starting role in 2024. He's a very good athlete who ripped off a 4.5 40 this off-season and is built well for his size. Flores should fit in nicely at middle linebacker with outside potential given his speed and ranginess. If he can be stout at the line of scrimmage among traffic, Flores has the potential to be a well-rounded linebacker prospect and versatile in his capabilities.

Another addition to the Martinsburg program from Musselman who could be an impact player this season is 2025 DB [player_tooltip player_id='897594' first='Brayden' last='Miller']. We got to see him up close at the PRZ WV Combine in May where he earned DB Top Performer honors as a talented two-way WR/DB. Miller will have the opportunity to showcase that versatility this season as Martinsburg will be searching for defensive backs and receivers to step up after losing some serious talent from last season's State Championship squad. He's been a 2x First Team All-EPAC player in the past and could three-peat those honors if he can settle in with his new team. Miller will play centerfield as their free safety and has the speed to patrol the back end of their defense.

We are high on former Musselman DL [player_tooltip player_id='1138541' first='Frankie' last='Urias'] who is another former Appleman making his way to Martinsburg this season. He showed a lot of potential as a sophomore last season and we anticipate him earning a starting spot for the Bulldogs this season. Urias is a long defensive end prospect who needs to continue filling out his frame but once he does so his ceiling will be high for the position. He's also a quality athlete who can run and cover ground quickly for a DE and plays well in space. Urias uses his hands well and fires off the line with great burst and effort.

Now in the 6'0 260 range, he's put himself in a position to slide into a starting role at guard for Martinsburg this season. Whipp is an aggressive blocker who can pull and play in space as a quality athlete for the position. Paige is an impressive athlete for the position and tested very well this off-season with a 4.6 40 and 8'10 broad jump which bodes well for his potential as a placekicker. He's been putting in the work over the off-season at various camps to take his game to the next level this season and you should see an improvement in his consistency and mechanics as a junior. Paige has the foundation as an athlete and early form to develop into one of the top specialists in this class where he currently ranks as the #3 2026 kicker.
