RJ Evans RJ Evans 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Thompson | 2026 State AL is a talented RB out of Thompson who put up one of his best seasons yet last fall, finding ways to make huge plays out of the backfield all year long.
Evans is a versatile weapon for Thompson’s offense- he‘s a dynamic back who plays with a ton of speed, twitch, and toughness that can hurt defenses on the ground and through the air. Evans has great vision he uses to quickly find rushing lanes behind the line of scrimmage and has the speed and acceleration to take off into the open field for huge gains. He’s elusive with the ball in his hands and can change his direction to weave around defenders.
On top of that, Evans is really productive on passing downs- he has great hands, can run routes out of the backfield, and can find extra yards after the catch.
Evans was a huge piece of Thompson’s offense last fall- ending his junior year with 128 carries for 727 yards and 7 TDs on the ground, and 24 receptions for 281 yards and one TD through the air.
Evans picked up an offer from North Alabama earlier this offseason and should have more heading his way soon.

Evans has a quick first step, great acceleration, and speed that allow him to hit the open field and go from 0-100 in no time. It’s exciting watching him rev up, he can break off some runs for big gains with ease. In addition to that, Evans also has really good vision he uses to find the most optimal lane and exploit defenses. He follows blocks really well and constantly finds himself away from defenders. It’s also clear that Evans is a physical player, he can withstand some big hits and keep playing through them. Keep an eye on him this fall, he could become a big-time player in Thompson’s rushing attack as he sees the field more!

As a running back, Evans showcases agility and elusiveness that allows him to navigate through traffic and make defenders miss with extreme ease. That paired with his quick burst and change of direction make him a really difficult player to contain, as he can quickly find ways to take advantage of defenses. In the passing game, Evans utilizes his hands to make reliable catches no matter how contested or difficult the pass is- in addition to that, it doesn’t matter if his route is short, intermediate, or deep, he has the ability to track the ball and secure receptions all around the field. Already as a freshman Evans has a lot of impressive aspects of his game- and some schools are starting to take notice- recently he picked up an Austin Peay offer!
