Kayd was absolutely as advertised on Friday night. He was poised and in command all night long, culminating in a huge touchdown on the ground for Kayd, capping off what was already a huge night on the ground for him. He threw for 3 touchdowns, and was able to add 3 more on the ground for East Kentwood.
-Super live arm. Great velocity and accuracy even under pressure. Delivers the ball quickly and hits them in stride.
-A true dual threat guy who can extend the play or just take off and hurt the defense with his legs when the defense sleeps on his legs.
-Great emotional and vocal leader of this EK team. Consistently hyped up his guys, kept his teammates in it through the ups and downs of the game, and operated like another coach on the field.

The best showing I’ve seen from Kayd.
He was in a rhythm from the first drive. A lot of screens, slants, drag routes, exploiting Bryon Center’s inferior speed. Every pass 10 yards or less was on-point. Great velocity, and at times, great placement (like the first drive TD pass to Van Der Veen). Byron Center’s D-Line could not get pressure, and they didn’t blitz much either. Kayd had all day to throw, and he looked extremely comfortable.
There were a couple of intermediate-deep throws that were slightly off. An interception over the middle of the field that seemed like an underthrow, plus failing to see the safety. Another dangerous throw to the middle right side of the field, but it looked like his receiver ran the wrong route.
Very few mistakes from Kayd. Really nice day throwing the football. This kind of play undoubtedly raises East Kentwood’s ceiling.

I gotta say it for everyone- if East Kentwood makes a state championship run, Kayd has a great shot at Mr. Football.
Kayd is a major sleeper for this award. Heck, East Kentwood nearly upset the state runner-up Hudsonville in the first round of last year’s playoffs. With this being Kayd’s senior season, this could be the year that East Kentwood explodes back into the State Championship conversation.
This season, Kayd should take a leap. The game should slow down, as he’s now used to what OK Red defenses are going to throw at him. A jump in production + better supporting cast could result in Mr. Football.

Accuracy.
Give Kayd a clean pocket, and he can make some amazing throws. Every time I’ve watched Kayd, there’s been at least one “WOW” type of throw. Perfectly-placed fades, quick slants, etc- Kayd is able to make any throw. Accuracy is king for quarterbacks. I still think Kayd needs to be a little better under pressure, but the fact is that he’s one of the most accurate Q’s in the class. If I had to bet, I’d say Kayd is going to lead East Kentwood to a ton of success this coming season.

Michigan State is getting a really good one. Kayd made an impressive leap this past season under the direction of head coach Tyrone Spencer, who made his way to East Kentwood after his time at Detroit King. Another year in the Spencer system could have Coffman in line for another major jump.
Coffman is extremely confident in the pocket. Standing tall and delivering strikes, Coffman has no issue firing the ball into tight windows. His decision making is good and his arm strength is improved a ton. East Kentwood will be a threat once again this fall thanks to

I’m going to be honest- I’m not as high on Kayd as most seem to be. Still a great quarterback, but I have more of a high GLIAC evaluation of him rather than B1G 10.
- Good pocket passer
- Able to read field effectively
- Sensational passer at offseason camps
- Accuracy falls off during games- I’ve seen him miss easier throws
- Can improve off-schedule playmaking
- Good size, good mechanics, great up-and-coming program.

Kayd is on a great run of offers here in the recent weeks. Turn on his tape and you’ll see why D1 schools are really taking a liking to him. First off, you can tell he has the confidence and decision making to command an offense. He diagnoses coverage, matchups and exploits weak spots quickly with his fluid mechanics and quick trigger. He has no issue putting plenty of zip on the ball and has nice touch as well when necessary. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do with a season in his new offense under his belt and another offseason of work. East Kentwood is going to be a major threat once again with Kayd at the helm.

Most consistent of all the quarterbacks. Strong and sturdy, likes the weight room. Great height and so:x accurate in the short game, good zip intermediate and can drop it in the bucket. Good poise, make good decisions. Quick trigger.
