With a couple of recent visitors and an offer from Bowling Green, people are starting to get on the hype train with Jones, and rightfully so. Defensively, he brings a high IQ and a superb level of instincts to the secondary. He can cover so much ground that it’s nearly impossible to throw anywhere near him without him getting his paws on it. Jones has also showed the ability to come up and play in the box with physicality. The offers are only just starting for this dude, but he has been a hot name recently.

I was not expecting Donavan to be so explosive. He was likely the #1 most explosive DB I watched at camp, and the #2 overall most explosive when you factor in WRs.

Donavan is able to accelerate quickly and stop on a dime. Rep after rep, I was consistently impressed with Donavan’s ability to accelerate out of his breaks. Combine that with Donavan’s proven ability to stop the run, and he makes for a very intriguing DB prospect. Height may be an issue, but still, I don’t see how he’s lower than a D2 prospect.

Whether he was flying downhill to fill gaps in the run game or playing as a ball hawking safety on the back end, his presence was felt, and you could tell the offense was doing their best to test him too much.

-Reads the quarterback’s eyes and breaks on the ball quickly if the QB looks for too long.

-Physical in the run game, has no issue coming downhill and playing in the box.

-Natural ball-tracking ability with the athleticism to contest anything thrown his way.

A good showing for Donavan Jones Donavan Jones 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH/RB East Kentwood | 2027 State MI . I admittedly did not watch him as much as I did Dallas, but both looked like similar players.

Pregame, Donavan was having fun, warming up hard, and looked ready to go. In-game, Donavan was in on a ton of plays. A big reason why EK’s defense stopped BC’s offense so well.

I’ll do my homework on Donavan this season. Looking forward to what he does against OK Red opponents.

Donavan is ranked very high in our Class of 2027 rankings and he has some great tape + stats five weeks into the season.

Yesterday, he played great. I only recorded two Hudsonville pass plays (all-22), but Donovan did phenomenally in both instances. Playing Safety, Donovan played amazing zone coverage in one play and lockdown coverage on the TE in the other. In the 16 Hudsonville pass plays I recorded, Donovan had solid pursuit, and you can tell he’s a very explosive athlete. Although he was around the ball a ton, he seemed to hesitate to get involved with gang tackles.

In addition, Donavan’s tape in weeks 1-4 is great. I can tell that he’s an incredibly explosive athlete and is probably one of the best pass defenders in the OK conference. Get a little more physical and become better in run support, and Donovan would be an extremely well-rounded football player.

Good performance, and still 2 1/2 seasons for Donavan to prove himself!
