Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Arguably the top uncommitted DL in WI comes out of Franklin HS. Jace is an experienced, talented, 6’3″ 270 lbs DT. The big man can win in a variety of ways in the trenches. He can use speed and bend to slip through gaps. He has active, strong hands to keep himself clean and to disengage with OL. Miller is also able to transition speed to power with his quick first step. The senior DL is also athletic in space, chasing down QBs outside the pocket. Jace is a high motor DT to know. Film is below.

Stats: 7 Tackles, .5 SacksrnJace was the premier talent in the defensive trenches. The DT has an excellent frame to continue to build on at the next level. He has a quick first step off the snap, and flashes fast hands. Miller is a high motor player who fights to the whistle, and pursues beyond the tackle to tackle box. Miller showed off the strength to take on double teams and split them to make tackles. Jace also did a great job of using his length to keep separation so he could quickly disengage. The senior looks the part, plays hard, is quick off the snap, and uses his hands consistently and effectively. Definitely a recruit to get after.

. The 6’3″ 270 lbs senior made quite the comeback from ACL surgery last year. He managed to see the field just 6 months after surgery and put together 5 games of tape. The rising senior didn’t miss a step either. He proved to still be a stout IDL who can hold the line of scrimmage against the run game. Jace also showed that he has impressive lateral agility to quickly get past IOL and get after the QB. His short area burst gives him a head start out of his stance and allows him to close on the QB quickly. The ’24 does a great job of playing with his hands too. He is able to keep separation and that lets him disengage quicker and find the ball. Miller is a well rounded DL prospect, and should put on a great show in his senior season.

The 6’4” 270 lbs junior DL came back from a torn ACL in under 6 months, and there was no loss of ability to be seen. Jace has proven over and over to be a stout IDL who can take on IOL, hold his ground, and then shed the block to make the stop at the line of scrimmage. That ability to control the line of scrimmage is key in controlling the game. His ability to eat up blocks also made it easier for the stud LB corps behind him to roam around and make stops. Miller also has impressive reps where he transitioned speed into power and an effective bull rush. Lastly, Miller plays with active hands that get him separation that he uses to get past OL. A big year is coming for the Franklin DL.
