Austin plays in one of the best conferences in the state and has plenty of talent around him on his own team. However, watching through his junior highlights you quickly see him stand out from the crowd. The first takeaway is that he has put on more size to his frame, now pushing 245 lbs. That hasn’t taken away from his impressive mobility. Austin makes it look so easy sliding laterally, changing direction, getting depth in his pass pro, or leading out in space. He covers ground and that added size has boosted his power. You see that when he makes that initial contact that quickly overwhelms his target. Even at just 245 lbs the junior has so many examples of dominance in the run game with his leverage and power. This kid is just scratching the surface of what he could become over the coming years. A must watch on film.

It was a great first experience watching the sophomore OL out of Franklin. Austin is coming off a season on varsity, so he is well on his way towards a ton of high level experience. At the event Austin checked in at 221 lbs with a 6’2″ height and an awesome 6’5.5″ wingspan. It will be interesting to see how his game develops as he continues to grow and fill out his frame, but the lack of weight to his frame didn’t hurt him a ton in 1 on 1 battles. He is very quick on his feet and pairing that with his strong reactive athleticism to pass rush moves allowed him to always stay square in front of his opponent. He also surprised me with his ability to sink his hips and set his anchor vs the bigger DL and hold his ground. Koss is sitting on a really strong base of talent. I’m excited to watch him continue to mold it into a future OL recruit.
