One of the more consistent, stock rising, and tough competitors and prospects PRZ saw this past month, Andrew Chromy owns some real-deal juice from the interior of the DL. Representing one of the premier positions on the recruiting trail, Chromy once again had a good showing at yet another D1 prospect camp, this time in Brookings at the SDSU Jackrabbits’ second & final camp of the summer. Measured in at 6′ 1/2″, 291 lbs. with a 73 1/2″ wing and 9″ hands, Chromy popped off a 4.78 shuttle and 8’1 broad jump during testing before transitioning into yet another productive and effective session of 1v1 competition, both in run and pass block/defeat settings. Good pad level and pure, unadulterated power had strong, experienced iOL backpedaling like they were on skates, and we also saw Chromy flash an effective swim and arm-over that he doesn’t overuse or expose himself with too often. Nearly 10 offers racked up by Chromy so far.

One of my favorite performances from the summer was watching Andrew battle in the defensive trenches. The 6’2″ 290+ lbs athlete was a force at camps. He has power the instant he springs out of his stance and naturally seemed to always have the leverage advantage when making contact thanks to that lower body flexibility. Chromy has the lower body strength to be able to win via bull rush, collapsing the pocket or disrupting timing. I love the violence he brings to the interior of the DL. Then he can flip a switch and burst around IOL with quick feet and fast, active hands to keep himself clean. The variety of paths to 1v1 wins for the Franklin standout was outstanding to see. No doubt Chromy will be Top 10 at his position. He holds offers from MSU- Moorhead, Washburn, Northern State, Minot State, Bemidji State, Eau Claire, Sioux Falls, Duluth, Upper Iowa, and Drake. There is a lot of competition for the DL.

Andrew has been one of my biggest winners of the offseason. He has built himself into one of the most impressive IDL that WI has to offer. The Franklin athlete checked in at 6’1″ 293 lbs with a 6’2″ wingspan. That prototypical frame is equipped with traits that will give a college DL coach a difference maker by the time he is an upperclassman. While watching his reps there were three common words that kept coming to mind and hitting my notepad. Strong, explosive and violent. From the instant AJ jumps out of his stance he is loaded up with power to either bull rush an OL into the lap of the QB or he is going to show off that immense upper body strength as he shrugs or tosses OL aside on his way into the backfield. Chromy was so consistent with his leverage and technique rep to rep also. It is clear that the Franklin DL is one of the best at his position and will be a massive riser for us here at PRZ WI. This is a need to know type of athlete.

Andrew was one of the more relentless defensie linemen I caught in the DL group at the UWEC Big Man MEGA Camp out of Franklin. The just about 6’1 290 pounder, showed off great effectiveness with his hands in the live reps I watched in Eau Claire as his plethora of moves were intriguing for his size and frame. Another skillset that Andrew won a handful of reps with was his time as release of his hands launched well from a pursuit angle perspective. The next-level interest he’s gotten is certainly there, but he’s one that surprises me doesn’t at least have a WIAC offer or a couple as of yet.

was lighting it up and putting on a show at the 2026 UW-Eau Claire Big Man OL/DL Mega Camp last week in Eau Claire. A strong, balanced, and quick rising senior defensive tackle out of a D1 powerhouse Franklin program, Chromy measured in at nearly 6’1 and 293 lbs. with a 6’2″ wing, and boy did he put in some work during 1v1s. The DT had an explosive get-off from the interior, one that was putting OCs and OGs on their heels and/or reaching off the snap, and boy was he powerful. Chromy was getting off the ball with so much force that he was generating and creating some serious collisions in the trenches, and when eh really lined up an OL, he could back down the 300+ lber. like he working a sled in drill work. Chromy had more than his fair share of bull rush wins and power moves, but the big boy was also laterally agile and quick, and he thrived in the high-contact setting that was the prestigious UWEC Big Man OL/DL Mega Camp. Tough, equally effective in run and pass defense settings, and strong as an ox. No offers yet!

Andrew has been one of the hotter recruits on the recruiting trail this month. He has earned multiple offers since around mid-April. I was really impressed to see AJ playing all along the DL in 2025 at 6’2″ 290 lbs. The massive DL is very disruptive and able to whoop OL with his first step explosion or with his strength. When he is looking to play through his gap with speed, AJ flashes strong and quick hands that quickly get him past OL and into the backfield. Even when the OL is trying to trap him the big man is so strong and stout that he can take on the block and shed it with his power and still get to the football. Chromy plays with a high level of discipline to go along with the physical tools. I think this kid is just starting to see his recruitment take off. He is going to be a massive riser this summer.

Andrew is really growing on me the more I watch his tape. The 6’2″ 290 lbs 2027 never stays blocked or engaged with the OL for long. He has strong hands that seem to be constantly working to get himself clean and shed blockers. The big man has surprising burst to him with quick and agile feet to get slip past blockers and create a constant state of disruption in the backfield. Andrew does a great job of finding the ball through all the traffic too and showing off his range to chase down the ball. The strength he shows to hold the line of scrimmage also will be something coaches are drawn too.

Stats: 6 Tackles, 2 QB Pressures
Franklin had a big game against undefeated Kenosha Bradford in Week 6 and left no doubt where they stand among the best in the state. Franklin would end the game with a 41-0 shutout victory. Flexing their offensive and defensive dominance. One of the athletes aiding in that defensive dominance is junior IDL

. The 6’1″ 270 lbs athlete prevented the offense from finding any room to run on the interior. Andrew has worked his way into being a powerful presence who can hold his ground, stuff running lanes, and drive his man off the line to create that backfield chaos that throws off timing on plays. Even against double teams the big man was a nightmare to get off his spot and usually would force the RB to look for a cutback lane, giving the defense time to swarm and bring him down for little to no gain. Andrew is one of those IDL who an impact the game without actually getting to the ball. Don’t sleep on the junior IDL.

Another top underclassman performer was Franklin’s Andrew “AJ” Chromy. The 6’2″ 243 lbs sophomore was a problem in 1 on 1s. The sophomore had some of the most consistent success with his hands that I saw throughout the day. His swats or punches were strong and always got the OL hands off of him allowing him to make a move or counter move off that separation. I was impressed by AJ’s quickness off the snap and how he always seemed to have a plan of attack on each rep. Between his size and technique at this point in his career, I’m very excited to see what is ahead for the ’27.
