is a disruptive force as a defensive lineman for Roman Catholic. His ability to fire off the ball and attack offensive linemen is impressive. He gets off the ball extremely quickly. He also has good strength as a defensive lineman. Smith-Ray is one of the biggest keys to victory for Roman Catholic because Bishop McDevitt loves to run the ball. He needs to be able to control his gap and stop the run.

Antwan Smithray is a legit athlete who is not even close to a finished product as a defensive lineman. He gets off the ball quickly and attacks offensive linemen at a quick pace. He has a motor that never stops as he chases plays all over the field. He needs to add strength, but he has a great frame standing 6’4 inches tall. Smithray has the tools to play at an even higher level next year; I cannot wait to see his progress.

Can align anywhere on the Roman front four, a hand-in-the-dirt IDL whose height/weight combo provides alignment versatility. 6’3, 240 pounds, 3.7 GPA. Up ten pounds from when we first added him to our Watchlist.
Smith-Ray doesn’t have a complete mid-season tape out quite yet, he does have single-game cut-ups for each week that has passed by, coaches will appreciate this. I attended the Roman-AP Randolph game a couple weeks back, was tough to learn anything of value considering how over-matched and lopsided the game turned out to be. I decided to dive into Smith-Ray’s tape against Malvern Prep and St. John’s College to get a feel for the type of junior prospect he is.
“Malvern Prep” tape is actually his mid-season. Usually aligns head-up on guards, shading inside shoulder, or in the A-gap pre-snap. I’d recommend putting best plays first and removing slow-mo, never want to make yourself look slow on tape, coaches want to get a feel for your game speed. Can get slippery in the trenches, like the pursuit angles he takes once he sheds blocking. Has to take on duo blocks often, does a good job ripping in an attempt to split. Has some push-pull reps that end up having ASR applying pressure through the pocket. A hustle player from what I can tell. Is often a mismatch against opposing guards, simply being too powerful off the snap. Roman can utilize Smith-Ray at any of the four DL spots in their 4-2-5 scheme. Excited to rank him.

has limited film but showed he has a lot of potential at defensive line. He has a good size and strength and is hard to move off his spot. When he engages with offensive linemen he does a good job of using his hands to control them and rip through. Smith-Ray should have a chance at being a bigger contributor this season for Roman Catholic.
