PRZPA 2028 Defensive Back Recruiting Notebook, New Evals are IN

NATIONAL RECRUIT    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'3, 190-pound defensive back prospect and Penn State commit in the 2028 class. Since committing early in 2026, he's added offers from Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and many more, and is firmly in the conversation for the No. 1 overall spot in the class.</li> </ul>   This is one of the premier defensive backs in Pennsylvania regardless of class. He has the traits to compete with top prospects anywhere in the country. His evaluation matches the recruiting attention. One of the nation's premier defensive backs, he has climbed from the Top 20 into the Top 5 of the Prep Redzone rankings and continues to establish himself as a national recruit.</li> </ul>   The complete package stands out immediately. He has the size, range, and overall athletic profile colleges value. His play continues supporting the projection.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 175-pound 2028 CB/WR prospect out of Springfield Township High School. Recently picked up an offer from Indiana after a huge month that also included offers from Duke, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Texas A&M.</li> </ul>   He has separated himself from many of his peers. His overall game projects well regardless of scheme or position in the secondary. There is enough talent here to compete with the nation's best. Programs across the country should continue evaluating him.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'0, 160-pound 2028 CB prospect out of Imhotep Charter High School (PA). Recently picked up offers from Rutgers and Morgan State after another strong offseason that included an impressive showing at a Nike Opening Regional. The race at the top of the rankings remains incredibly close, and he's firmly in the mix among the state's elite prospects.</li> </ul>   He possesses several traits that cannot be coached. The movement skills and overall instincts immediately jump off the film. His upside remains among the highest in the class. The recruiting attention is justified.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 180-pound 2028 DB/WR prospect out of Pine-Richland High School. Carries a 4.09 GPA. Recently picked up an offer from Pitt, and while he's not on a national recruiting level just yet, the talent is there for his recruitment to take off.</li> </ul>   Everything points toward a player capable of making an impact at the highest level. His overall game continues matching the recruiting attention he receives. He has earned recognition as one of the nation's better young defensive backs. The future remains extremely bright.    DIVISION ONE STAMP & BEST UNOFFERED MIX    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'9, 172-pound 2028 DB/RB/ATH prospect out of Albert Gallatin High School. His recruitment is still in the early stages, giving him plenty of opportunity to build momentum as more programs begin evaluating the 2028 class.</li> </ul>   There is more ability here than the recruiting currently suggests. His overall game compares favorably with several offered prospects. He continues improving in key areas. The offers should eventually follow.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'11, 163-pound 2028 WR/DB prospect. While his recruitment has been quieter in recent months, he's still a prospect worthy of recognition and one to keep an eye on as the recruiting cycle continues.</li> </ul>   The evaluation points toward FBS football. He consistently flashes traits that translate beyond the high school level. There is still room to become more polished. The foundation is already there.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'2, 180-pound 2028 DB prospect out of Simon Gratz High School. Holds two Division I offers from Akron and Delaware State, and has the talent to add more FBS opportunities, particularly from programs throughout the Northeast.</li> </ul>   His game projects well to the college level. The movement skills stand out while the physical profile continues developing. He has already shown he can compete against quality players. FBS programs should continue tracking him.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'2, 195-pound 2028 DB/QB/WR prospect out of Penn Trafford High School. Posted a 210-foot throw and is a new addition to the rankings with the versatility to develop at multiple positions, including safety. A mix of FBS and FCS programs are already pursuing him, with Ivy League schools also expected to be major players as he continues to establish himself as a Division I prospect.</li> </ul>   His evaluation projects comfortably into Division One football. He consistently competes with confidence and trusts his technique. The overall package continues improving. Coaches should like the direction he is heading. Currently unoffered, but he's another prospect with plenty of time to build traction as college programs continue evaluating the 2028 class.</li> </ul>   Do not overlook this evaluation because of the current recruiting picture. He has already shown enough to warrant college attention. The foundation is strong. Expect more schools to get involved.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>2028 RB/DB prospect out of Hopewell High School. Carries a 3.0 GPA and competes in track. Currently unoffered, but he's one of the top unoffered prospects in the 2028 class and has the talent to generate significant recruiting attention.</li> </ul>   Do not overlook this evaluation because of the current recruiting picture. He has already shown enough to warrant college attention. The foundation is strong. Expect more schools to get involved.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'11, 180-pound 2028 ATH prospect. Carries a 3.6 GPA and posted a 4.6-second 40-yard dash. Currently unoffered, but he's a prospect who shouldn't stay that way for long as more programs continue evaluating the 2028 class.</li> </ul>   He has quietly put together a quality body of work. The physical tools continue developing while the confidence keeps growing. There is enough here to justify future offers. Coaches should evaluate him sooner rather than later.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'10, 150-pound 2028 CB prospect out of Upper Darby High School. Currently unoffered, but his film speaks for itself, showcasing the traits of a true lockdown corner capable of developing into a highly recruited defensive back.</li> </ul>   His evaluation stands on its own regardless of the offer sheet. He has shown enough ability to project to the next level. More exposure should create more opportunities. He remains one of the stronger unoffered defensive backs in the class.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 165-pound 2028 WR/FS/KR prospect out of Laurel Highlands High School. Carries a 4.0 GPA. Currently unoffered, and it's fair to wonder for how much longer given the tools and overall profile he brings to the table.</li> </ul>   Sometimes recruiting moves slower than the evaluation. That feels like the case here. He continues checking important boxes every season. The offers should eventually reflect the player.    ELITE PHYSICAL PROFILES    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'0, could blow up with more reps, break-out candidate here. 175 pounds. </li> </ul>   He owns one of the stronger physical profiles in the class. His combination of size and athleticism gives him plenty of positional flexibility. There is very little concern about whether the body will translate. It already looks the part.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'2, 187-pound 2028 Safety/Nickel prospect out of Archbishop Carroll High School. His recruitment is still in the early stages, but he has the physical profile to draw increased attention as more college programs evaluate the 2028 class. Holds a Robert Morris offer. </li> </ul>   Few defensive backs combine these physical traits. He has length, range, and natural athleticism that immediately catch your attention. There is still another level physically. The upside remains significant. His athletic profile is one of the reasons he stands out. He covers ground effortlessly and has the physical tools to match up with multiple receiver types. The body projects cleanly to college football. Coaches will appreciate the long term outlook.    BALL HAWKS & PLAYMAKERS    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'0, 195-pound 2028 OLB/WR/S/RB prospect out of Harrisburg High School. Great offensive producer. </li> </ul>   Coverage is where he earns his value. He stays patient at the line, trusts his feet, and consistently challenges receivers down the field. He competes every snap and rarely gives away easy completions. His game is built to play on the outside. Do not overlook this evaluation because of the current recruiting picture. He has already shown enough to warrant college attention. The foundation is strong. Expect more schools to get involved.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'8, 170-pound 2028 DB/RB prospect out of Easton Area High School. Recently squatted 485 pounds. Currently unoffered despite impressive film, and he's a prospect who deserves more attention as programs continue recruiting the Easton area.</li> </ul>   He has a knack for making momentum changing plays. The ball skills continue standing out every time he takes the field. He understands how to finish opportunities instead of simply being in position. That difference matters. This is a defender who finishes. He does not settle for good coverage when there is a chance to create a takeaway. The ball skills are among his better traits. Those plays swing games.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'7, 150-pound 2028 ATH prospect out of Neumann Goretti High School. He's a Top 200 prospect with the potential to put together a breakout season and climb even higher in the rankings.</li> </ul>   His ability to find the football stands out every week. He consistently puts himself in position to disrupt passing games. The production reflects the instincts. He has become one of the more reliable playmakers in the secondary.    FUTURE PROGRAM PLEASERS    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'7, 145-pound 2028 WR/DB prospect out of Seton LaSalle High School. Recently ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at Duquesne, and he has the athletic traits to outperform his current ranking as the 2028 cycle continues.</li> </ul>   He understands how to play the position. The physical ceiling may not be the highest in the class, but the consistency stands out every week. He competes, communicates, and rarely puts himself out of position. College coaches win a lot of games with defensive backs like this.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 180-pound 2028 DB/ATH prospect. His recruitment is still developing, but his size and versatility give him the physical tools to become a coveted defensive back as more schools enter the evaluation process.</li> </ul>   He may never be the flashiest player on the field, but he continues doing his job at a high level. He plays disciplined football and understands defensive responsibilities. That reliability becomes valuable over the course of a season. Coaches notice players they can trust.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'11.5, 175-pound 2028 QB/Safety prospect out of McKeesport High School. Carries a 3.7 GPA.</li> </ul>   This is the type of player every defensive backs coach enjoys working with. He plays hard, stays disciplined, and consistently puts himself in good position. There is very little wasted movement in his game. Dependable football still wins games. There is nothing complicated about his evaluation. He plays sound football, competes at a high level, and understands his responsibilities. Those qualities travel well to the college game. He should become a valuable addition wherever he lands.    FUTURE SAFETY    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'2, 175-pound 2028 WR prospect out of Belle Vernon Area High School. Posted a 4.50-second 40-yard dash. A starting cornerback at the high school level, but his long-term projection may be at safety in college.</li> </ul>   He projects comfortably to safety. The frame supports the move while the tackling ability continues standing out. He understands how to read plays and react quickly. He brings physicality to every snap and consistently supports against the run. The range allows him to cover plenty of ground. Future collegiate safety IMO. </li> </ul>   Safety appears to unlock the most value in his game. He processes plays well and consistently arrives under control. His willingness to tackle separates him from many defensive backs. The long term outlook remains encouraging.    PURE COVER CORNER    <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'3, 165-pound 2028 WR/DB/ATH prospect out of West Mifflin High School. Carries a 3.5 GPA. His updated measurables better reflect his current profile, and he has the tools to develop into a Division I prospect.</li> </ul>   He has a natural feel for locating the football. Whether it is breaking up passes or creating takeaways, he finds ways to impact games. His awareness separates him from many defensive backs. He is one of those players for me. I believe his overall profile deserves stronger consideration than where he currently sits. Do not be surprised if he climbs.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 210 pounds, can dabble with WR role, ranked inside top 300 as a debut prospect on our board. </li> </ul>   With the full board now complete, I probably would have moved him higher. His strengths stack up well against many players currently ahead of him. There is more football here than the ranking suggests. He has every opportunity to outperform it.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>6'1, 180-pound 2028 Safety/WR/Long Snapper prospect out of Cardinal O'Hara High School (PA). Carries a 3.5 GPA and competes in baseball and wrestling. A versatile athlete whose long-term position is still taking shape, and one who was likely ranked too low in the initial evaluation.</li> </ul>   This is one of the easier second guesses on the board. His evaluation has continued growing on me after looking at the class as a whole. There is enough ability here to justify a higher placement. He feels like a future stock up candidate.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>two-way player, ranked well as a debut prospect on board. 5'11, 185, can't find a Twitter. </li> </ul>   If I had one more opportunity to adjust the rankings, this player would probably move. The more I compare him to others around his ranking, the stronger his evaluation becomes. There is enough talent here to exceed expectations. I will gladly own that opinion.     <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>5'8, 150-pound 2028 DB prospect. Carries a 3.3 GPA.</li> </ul>   Every rankings release comes with a handful of players you wish you could bump a little higher. He is one of mine. I believe his game will age well over the next few seasons. McCulley is at St. Joseph's Prep and is a name I've been following for some time, expecting big things from his, likely a Top 300 prospect and top 30 DB in his class, will see if that holds true.
