is a talented running back who has elite skills. The best part of his film is his ability to be patient and wait for the hole to open up. Then he has the quickness and burst to make defenders miss. He also has some of the best jump cuts you see for a running back. He has ankle-breaking moves that leave defenders falling as they try to tackle him. Then he has elite speed, and once he gets into the open field, he is off to the races. Darnell also played at the cornerback position. He showed good coverage skills from the cornerback position. Darnell is a good athlete on both sides of the ball.

5’8, 160 pounds. Ranked as a top-five defensive back, yet his tape suggests he should likely be ranked as a pure two-way athlete. Unoffered currently.
Four interceptions to his name, a fantastic number for a freshman regardless of level of competition. Recently saw him work at a few 7v7s this past couple of months. Watching him work in person before cutting on the tape further validates his live evaluation. First rep on tape has Darnell working at boundary corner in a butt-to-sideline tech. Eyes in the backfield, coupled with a poorly thrown ball, set up Darnell for an easy interception downfield. Great under-cutter, relies on a trail technique. Has great body control and hand-eye coordination, Darnell clearly has wideout-capable hands. I would implore Darnell to not rely so heavily on his athleticism. Further developing technique and awareness is the only way he’ll maintain this high of a ranking moving forward. That being said, I’m through the roof about the young man’s potential. Great start to his career over at Southmoreland.

is a good athlete who played as a cornerback last year. His ability to cover was excellent. He also showed a good ability to cover and understand zone principles. I also loved his speed. Sometimes, in coverage, he would get beat, but he showed the speed to catch up and make a play on the ball. Then, when the ball is thrown in his direction, he is a ball hawk and usually gets his hands on the ball. He also shows a good ability to tackle in the open field. Darnell is a talented player who can do it all as a defensive back.
