He covers a lot of ground in the secondary, using his stride length to close quickly on the ball. Smith shows good instincts, reading the quarterback and reacting to plays as they develop. His length allows him to contest passes and disrupt receivers at the catch point. He is physical in run support, stepping downhill and delivering solid tackles. Smith also demonstrates versatility, with the ability to match up against bigger receivers. His frame gives him long-term upside as he continues to develop physically. Smith projects as a versatile defensive back with strong potential at the next level.
