Expert Analysis
Vic Castillo | Prep Redzone Scout
- Council Rock South (PA) 2027 C/DT with plenty of size through the middle at 6’1, 280 pounds. Carries a strong 3.6 GPA.
Has a minute long Week 1 and 2 tape up on Hudl, along with a single game cut up featuring his best reps against Pennridge. Smith looks to be back to his dominant self at right tackle from the very beginning of the tape. I love the tenacity and aggression he is playing with. There is a ton of lower body strength on display, which he combines with great hand placement and the ability to torque defenders out of position. His core strength also looks better than I thought it was this time last year.
Smith is a fringe Division I level prospect who is playing through the whistle and consistently making his presence felt along the offensive line. I have gone on record in the past stating that he could also be a viable three technique or defensive line prospect at the collegiate level. Smith is back to showing legitimate potential on both sides of the line, and I think I’m seeing more confidence and dominance out of him than I have in years past. I would love to get an update on his official measurables.

Smith has a mid-season tape on Hudl consisting of his best plays form Weeks 1 through 5. Said tape starts off relatively well, with Smith dismantling IDLs from his center spot. Some great tech early on in reps, fantastic post-snap footwork that allows Smith to be in position to steer IDLs away from desired holes. Calm, not a center with happy feet. Strong grip and hands that strike where they need too, Smith consistently wins early, resulting in an impressive amount of pancackes caught on tape. Equally good a finisher as he is early off the snap. I had to remind myself that he’s just a sophomore, a prospect with tape this good will end up on our rankings in due time. Interested in if he has any experience playing guard, although his current build is a suitable one for the center spot. Great start to his career at CRS.
