This might end up being the last time we rank Broken Bow's [player_tooltip player_id='1525562' first='Greydon' last='Howell'] at the quarterback position for the 2027 class. First off, we stand on this ranking and think that Howell is not only the most electric football player in the state but he is an electric quarterback prospect. But when he gets to the next level, he will move over to the wide receiver position at Oklahoma and we think he'll do just fine there. Since Howell stepped on the football field during his sophomore season, he instantly became a name to know in this 2027 class. His film is some of the best that we've seen in the last few years and he's one of those players that looks like he's going in full speed while everyone else is in slow motion. And that's simply because Howell has another gear that nobody else in the state has. Whether it's quarterback or wide receiver, Howell is without a doubt one of the best football players in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1235926' first='Drew' last='Frankenfield'] is going to be a three-year starting quarterback for Owasso when he takes the field this fall. In his first two seasons, he's helped lead the Rams to back to back state championship game appearances. Now, he's hungry for a third but he's tired of leaving with the silver ball. Frankenfield is a terrific quarterback prospect and does a little bit of everything well. We've had the chance to watch him up close a few times this offseason in our 7v7 tournaments and each time, he has commanded the offense with precision and authority. He knows exactly where he wants to go with the ball at all times and we're fired up to see how that translates to this fall. Because the Rams are losing some of their top offensive talent to graduation. There will be new names everywhere for Frankenfield at the wide receiver position. But his confidence going into the year has to be at an all time high.

Southmoore signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='2138049' first='Taven' last='Hayes'] took a big step forward during his junior season and that was a big reason why the Sabercats made it back to the playoffs and won their first playoff game in 15 years. Now, Hayes and the Sabercats have been bumped back up to Class 6A-1 and we're looking forward to seeing how Hayes transitions to competing against the state's top competition. We really like some of the skill players that Southmoore brings back so Hayes is going to have some weapons to go to this fall. When we've watched Hayes, we like the way he works through his progressions but he's not afraid to tuck the ball and use his legs as a weapon as well. He's a pass-first quarterback that has the ability to beat defenses with a scramble here and there. The jump Hayes made from his sophomore year to junior year was notable and there's no doubt that he's hungry for more.

[player_tooltip player_id='891992' first='Kason' last='Delgado'] continues to be one of the better quarterback prospects in this class but you can't talk about Delgado without talking about his uncommon path to where we are today. Delgado is at Mustang and he could end up being QB1 for the Broncos this fall. Mustang is his fifth school since his freshman season so building consistency with teammates has obviously been a challenge. But look at the production on the field. He started as a freshman at Union when the original starter got hurt. He started for Edmond Santa Fe as a sophomore and Muskogee as a junior. During those sophomore and junior seasons, Delgado was incredibly productive and put up some strong numbers. Now, he's looking to win the QB1 job at Mustang and if he does, he could have his best season this fall. The Broncos have some serious weapons at the skill positions that could set him up for success.

Down in southwestern Oklahoma, Mangum quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='916843' first='Remington' last='Laughlin'] continues to be a name to know in this class. His first two seasons were plagued with injuries but he finally had a full season of work and he backed up all the hype. He helped lead Mangum to an undefeated regular season and one of their best seasons in recent memory. Laughlin is now preparing for his senior season and he's hungry for more. There is a lot to like about Laughlin and his overall game. He checks all the boxes from a physical standpoint. He can make some really difficult throws look easy and he also has the athletic ability to make some things happen with his legs. Laughlin might still be flying under the radar but that shouldn't be the case after his strong junior campaign. And when we look at what Mangum brings back for 2026, he should have an even stronger senior campaign this season.

There's not another quarterback in the state, regardless of class, that has been responsible for more offensive production in the last two seasons. Talihina signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1524935' first='Landen' last='Griffith'] has put up numbers that you only see in video games. Last season, he threw for over 4,000 yards while running for more than 1,000 yards. He also accounted for 75 touchdowns between passing and running. It was a remarkable junior season that was capped off with a state championship to complete a perfect season. Griffith is an absolute baller and he should be recognized as one of the state's very best athletes as we head into the 2026 season. He plays at a lower level in Class A-2 so maybe there's a cap on what he is as a prospect but we don't see it that way. This guy is a winner and there's literally nobody else in the state that can produce at a level quite like Griffith has over the last two seasons.

Cashion's [player_tooltip player_id='1524930' first='Kellen' last='Smith'] is one of our favorite prospects to write about in this 2027 quarterback group. Based on the film and overall production, we knew Smith was a player to watch in this class but we got a chance to watch him go to work in person last fall and he passed the eye test. Simply put, Smith is an absolute dog and he's going to help whatever college program he ends up at. Smith can do a little bit of everything and he's very good at it. He starts on the defensive side of the ball but he's been the ultimate dual-threat option for Cashion over the last few years. When he's running, he's a very physical runner that has the strength to power through tacklers. As a passer, he showcases touch on his deep balls and very rarely puts the ball in harm's way. Smith had a terrific junior campaign and that followed up a breakout sophomore season. He looks to guide Cashion to the gold ball this fall.

Edmond North signal caller Chauncey Cravins feels like the ultimate X-factor on this breakdown and in Class 6A-1. Cravins is one of the better athletes in the state's 2027 class. He's also one of the best basketball prospects in the class. Sound familiar? There's a lot of Cravins' game that feels similar to what we've seen from Howell at Broken Bow over the last few seasons. Cravins debuts in the 2027 rankings in the top ten for the quarterback group but his ceiling is unbelievably high moving forward. It would not surprise us to check back in on this group in October or November and consider Cravins a top five quarterback in the class. Not only does he have the athletic ability and overall playmaking ability, but he was doing it last season against the toughest competition in Class 6A-1. There's no doubt that Cravins is one of the best athletes in the state and we're fired up to see him soon.

Similar to a few other quarterbacks on this breakdown, Mount St. Mary signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1035105' first='Roman' last='Manella'] made a huge jump from his sophomore to junior season. He moved from Midwest City to Mount St. Mary and ended up breaking several passing records as the Rockets had one of their better seasons in recent memory. Now, if you've been following our offseason content, you know that we're high on the Rockets as they head into the 2026 season. Manella is a big reason behind that. He's the captain of an offense that could be one of the better units in Class 3A this season. There is a lot to like about his game and he has plenty of weapons around him that he probably will break his own records he set last year. We're looking forward to seeing Manella in person in the spring and seeing how his game has continued to evolve since the end of last season because he's definitely a QB that can get the job done.

Blanchard's [player_tooltip player_id='1307135' first='Noah' last='Smith'] rounds out the top ten for the quarterback position and he's another signal caller that could end up being much higher on this list by the end of the 2026 season. Smith got his first taste of QB1 work last season and it was a mixed bag of performances. He definitely checks a lot of boxes from a physical standpoint and he was productive during his junior season. As he continues to improve his accuracy and limit the turnovers, Smith is going to be an absolute weapon in the passing game. The arm talent is there and with more experience, that should put him in a higher category for this position group. We really like his ability to score in those short yardage situations. He ended up leading the Lions in rushing touchdowns last season. Smith is a QB prospect with a lot of upside and we're looking forward to seeing the progress he's made throughout the offseason.
