It feels like we’ve been writing about 2027 quarterback Remington Laughlin Remington Laughlin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB/ATH Mangum | 2027 State OK for about five or six years now. He was a name that we knew about prior to his freshman year and now he’s heading into his senior season. It’s safe to say that he had his best season as QB1 of the Tigers last fall, leading this offense to new heights. He threw for over 2,100 yards and 23 touchdowns while completing over 70 percent of his passes. He also had over 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground and played in spot duty on defense. The Tigers plan on playing him full time on defense this season. That’ll make him one of the top two-way starters in the state.

Down in southwestern Oklahoma, Mangum quarterback Remington Laughlin Remington Laughlin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB/ATH Mangum | 2027 State OK continues to be a name to know in this class. His first two seasons were plagued with injuries but he finally had a full season of work and he backed up all the hype. He helped lead Mangum to an undefeated regular season and one of their best seasons in recent memory. Laughlin is now preparing for his senior season and he’s hungry for more. There is a lot to like about Laughlin and his overall game. He checks all the boxes from a physical standpoint. He can make some really difficult throws look easy and he also has the athletic ability to make some things happen with his legs. Laughlin might still be flying under the radar but that shouldn’t be the case after his strong junior campaign. And when we look at what Mangum brings back for 2026, he should have an even stronger senior campaign this season.

Mangum quarterback Remington Laughlin Remington Laughlin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB/ATH Mangum | 2027 State OK has been a 2027 prospect that we’ve written about quite a bit over the last few years. In each of his first two seasons, Laughlin suffered injuries that shut him down. This season, he’s been healthy and that’s a big reason why the Tigers are undefeated on the season and have a lot of momentum with the playoffs beginning next week. We got a chance to watch Laughlin in person last week and he had complete control of the Mangum offense. He was mostly used in the ground game and he’s a physical and deceptively fast runner. But he can also air it out and has the numbers to back it up this season.

For the second straight year, junior Remington Laughlin Remington Laughlin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB/ATH Mangum | 2027 State OK had injuries derail what could have been a breakout season at the quarterback position. Last season, it was a torn labrum that would force him to move from quarterback to the tight end position. And credit to Laughlin for strapping up and doing whatever he had to do to stay on the field and help his team, including playing linebacker on the defensive side of the ball. But when it comes to Laughlin, there is so much potential for him at the quarterback position. If Laughlin is unable to go by the start of this season at QB, the Tigers know they can turn to Beau Rogers but the plan is for Laughlin to be QB1 in September. 

We’ve written about Mangum sophomore Remington Laughlin Remington Laughlin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB/ATH Mangum | 2027 State OK a handful of times over the last year but it’s strictly been as a quarterback. But now, we’ve moved the Mangum standout over to the athlete position because he is playing a variety of positions and producing at a high level this season for the Tigers. He’s seen plenty of playing time at the quarterback position but he’s also moved around and produced in the run game and as a pass catcher. Laughlin is also one of the team’s top players when it comes to tackles for loss. We think that Laughlin is a guy to know within this class but we definitely didn’t see this change coming. But there’s no denying that he’s produced at a high level in a variety of ways.

Laughlin came into last season, expecting to be that breakout player for the Tigers as a freshman quarterback. But a labrum tear would end that freshman campaign. He came to our camp in January and was one of the top quarterbacks in attendance. Now, he’s focused on the 2024 season and looking to make up for lost time. When it comes to Laughlin, the ceiling is incredibly high with him but now he just has to go out there each week and back up the hype. He’ll be leading a very explosive Mangum offense.

And when we got a chance to see him in person back at our January camp, he really impressed. So when the pads come on this fall, we’re expecting him to have that breakout season.
