The early period will wrap up Friday with Iowa's 2026 Class proving it was strong from start to finish.   Here's a closer look at the talented collection of seniors:   TOP OF THE CLASS   Eleven different members of Iowa's 2026 Class signed on with Power 4 programs as scholarship players, so far. That's one more than last year with time for this year's cycle to add even more to the tally.   The University of Iowa harvested the in-state crop of prospects with the most success this fall, landing five of the 11. The Hawkeyes officially added tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1198816' first='Luke' last='Brewer'], who reclassified from the 2027 Class during the season, linebackers [player_tooltip player_id='1238512' first='Julian' last='Manson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1238514' first='Kasen' last='Thomas'], and offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1221926' first='Carson' last='Nielsen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1238174' first='Colin' last='Whitters'], to the roster on Wednesday.   Four of those guys are ranked in the Prep Redzone Top 10 rankings last updated in the preseason. Brewer will be added when a rankings update drops in the next week or so.   Two guys are heading to the SEC. [player_tooltip player_id='283946' first='Jayden' last='McGregory'] recently flipped his commitment from Louisville to Missouri, where he signed on as a safety Wednesday. [player_tooltip player_id='1221928' first='Evan' last='Jacobson'] officially joined Texas A&M, the only program heading to the 2025 College Football Playoff to take an Iowa kid.   Iowa State received an early commitment from Dowling Catholic receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1241492' first='Jeffrey' last='Roberts'] when he was at Ames last season. The talented wide out will be heading back to town after signing with the Cyclones.   Kansas got involved early with [player_tooltip player_id='1281978' first='Draeden' last='Punt']. The Jayhawks crossed the finish line with him signing to join the program.   [player_tooltip player_id='1240890' first='Tavian' last='White'] was committed to North Dakota when Minnesota offered him a scholarship on Nov. 29. He accepted the Golden Gopher opportunity.   [player_tooltip player_id='1687055' first='Dalton' last='DeBoer'] moved from Minnesota for his senior season at Waukee Northwest. He was committed to Wake Forest before the switch and signed with the Demon Deacons on Wednesday.   The in-state Power 4 programs also did well in recruiting walk-ons from Iowa. [player_tooltip player_id='283943' first='Eli' last='Robbins'], [player_tooltip player_id='1295632' first='Isaiah' last='Oliver'], David Fason and [player_tooltip player_id='1619976' first='Noah' last='Daniel'] have a chance to contribute to the great legacy of non-scholarship guys in the Hawkeye program. The Cyclones welcome [player_tooltip player_id='1631997' first='Keaton' last='Mennen'] after flipping him from a South Dakota pledge, and also will be bringing in Zach Eskildsen from Texas.   PROMINENT FCS PROGRAMS MINING IOWA   Our region is home to some of top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) squads in the country. That group includes North Dakota State and South Dakota State, which have combined to win the last four national championships.   The Jackrabbits have been active in recruiting Iowa, especially during this cycle, when they signed seven guys from the state. Northern Iowa has recommitted itself to recruiting in-state prospects during the last few cycles and matched SDSU with seven commitments in '26. The Panthers welcomed [player_tooltip player_id='1240572' first='Colt' last='Schipper'], [player_tooltip player_id='1221961' first='Will' last='Remmert'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241488' first='Quinn' last='Street'], [player_tooltip player_id='401672' first='Jimmy' last='Scott'], [player_tooltip player_id='401671' first='Drew' last='Thompson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1619623' first='Sam' last='Drexler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='401675' first='La'Marious' last='Clark'] from the 2026 Class.   Drake joined UNI in picking up the pace with in-state recruits. The Bulldogs officially secured futures with [player_tooltip player_id='1234337' first='Mason' last='Goering'], [player_tooltip player_id='1221969' first='Jaden' last='Ubben'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1581168' first='Kellen' last='Haverback'].   North Dakota signed a pair of Iowans on Wednesday, when [player_tooltip player_id='1619944' first='Noah' last='Milburn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1706805' first='Sam' last='Kline'] official joined the program. [player_tooltip player_id='1238635' first='Ethan' last='Headings'] <a href="https://x.com/Ethan_Headings/status/1916985857812181489/photo/1">verbally committed to the Fighting Hawks</a> in April but had not yet signed with them at the time this story published.   South Dakota also mined Iowa with intent. The Coyotes secured signatures from [player_tooltip player_id='1370736' first='Joey' last='Hardy'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1188432' first='Mason' last='Claus'].   [player_tooltip player_id='1687041' first='Owen' last='Liechti'] was verbally committed to Columbia for a time. He flipped to Montana and signed with the Grizzlies on Wednesday.   North Dakota State had not signed any members of Iowa's 2026 Class at the time of publishing.   MILITARY PURSUIT   The military academies do a nice job recruiting Iowa. It paid off in 2026 with Air Force securing commitments from [player_tooltip player_id='1221948' first='Jaxon' last='Paulsrud'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1250804' first='Calan' last='Peters']. [player_tooltip player_id='1240558' first='Andrew' last='Hine'] is headed to West Point as a Cadet.   D- II DUDES   A group of really good Iowa preps found homes on the Division II level. [player_tooltip player_id='1687003' first='Cohen' last='Vannausdle'], [player_tooltip player_id='401870' first='Drake' last='DeGroote'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1241376' first='Colton' last='McClish'] decided on Northwest Missouri State, while [player_tooltip player_id='1238171' first='Grady' last='McGuire'], [player_tooltip player_id='1238539' first='Ben' last='Meyer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='401668' first='Bryce' last='Kock'] picked Sioux Falls. Wayne State landed [player_tooltip player_id='1033543' first='Leo' last='Kirkland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1240483' first='Matt' last='Langner'], [player_tooltip player_id='1100526' first='Judah' last='Lock'] is off to Concordia-St. Paul, and Central Missouri welcomes [player_tooltip player_id='1581293' first='Nate' last='Warner'].   NAIA IS THE WAY   We also spotted a couple of Iowans choosing the NAIA route.
