Northern Iowa grabbed a good one in gaining a commitment from Drexler. I felt that way after watching him during last year’s state semifinals at the UNI-Dome and following after an in-person scout when the Maroons faced Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Sept. 27. Drexler combines an impressive range of skills that make him a difficult matchup as a pass catcher. The senior showed that against the Cougars, illustrating an ability to beat defenses deep with speed. In those situations and on underneath routes, his size can help win balls. Drexler also possesses quickness in space, which helps on short passes in making defenders miss. It will be interesting to see how he develops on the next level because the potential is there for big-time production.
