Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
McGuire is committed to Sioux Falls as a safety. He brings the toughness and athleticism needed in the secondary to the quarterback position for the Warriors. They shined through during his performance against North Scott in Week 2 of the 2025 season. McGuire clearly was one of the better players on the field. His desire to compete and will to win can make him successful on the next level no matter which position he ultimately plays. McGuire has the skills to line up behind center in college, for what it’s worth. His arm strength and accuracy on deep passes are traits on which to build. McGuire is an effective runner with a burst, speed in the open field and keen vision. It’s a starter kit for success as a modern day, dual-threat signal caller. But, again, I see the path on defense, too.

A classic quarterback-safety combo in the state of Iowa, McGuire returns after leading the Warriors under center the last two seasons. An improved passer that wasn’t as turnover prone as a junior, McGuire will once again look to improve statistically through the air this fall. He also led Washington in rushing attempts, yards and touchdowns last season, taking 80 carries for 513 yards and seven scores.
At free safety, McGuire will serve as the last line of defense to prevent big plays for the Warriors this fall. He’ll play on the backend of the University of Sioux Falls’ defense at the college level.

is one of the more interesting QBs within Class 5A, though he showed considerable improvements in his performance in 2024 to earn a spot on the watchlist. McGuire finished with 865 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and just 6 picks compared to 11 as a sophomore. He also ran for 513 yards and 7 touchdowns. Playing for an offense which utilizes the T-formation heavily, McGuire proved to be a shifty, dynamic runner who was difficult to bring down and broke out big runs often. While his passing mechanics still have a lot of room for growth, there were glimpses of brilliance as a pocket passer during his junior season. McGuire will be one of the biggest question marks heading into his senior campaign, but the upside his very high on this athlete.

McGuire (6-0 160) started behind center for the Warrior varsity in ’23. He completed 49.3 percent of his passes for 1,075 yards and 10 touchdowns with 11 picks for a young team growing together. With that experience, McGuire could be in line for a step forward this coming season. He illustrates during his sophomore highlight video an ability to hurt opponents with his arm and legs. He’s elusive when carrying the football, making life difficult on defensive linemen and linebackers. McGuire tosses the ball well on the move. His skill set could also work at another position on the next level. McGuire wrestles and plays baseball at Washington.
