One of the top running backs in the Cedar Rapids Metro and a playmaker for Cedar Rapids Jefferson,

is a classic, underrecruited prospect that has a shot at being a star for a program like Grand View.
Give him just enough space to make his lethal jumpcut, and Kalolero is going to make somebody miss. With quickness in the open field and the foot speed to blow-by would-be tacklers in the screen game, Kalolero has a high ceiling as a third down back that can make things happen when his team needs them most. A small, but explosive back, Kalolero’s low center of gravity makes him tough to bring down between the tackles and in space.

Not a massively imposing presence out of the backfield for Jefferson,

lets his play do the talking on the gridiron. Shifty and tough to track down with his low center of gravity and strong legs, Kalolero is breaks tackles with ease despite his small stature, keeping his legs churning through arm tackles and occasionally shaking defenders out of their shoes and breaking some ankles.
A runner with a mean streak, Kalolero will stick his hands in the face of a defender, run around them or run through them. He’s also a threat as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, and even though he may be deferred to as a checkdown option, he can make a play anytime he has the ball.

this fall. Standing at just 5’7″ and 155-pounds, Miles stated that though Kalolero has the look of a third down back, or though he may not be super impactful on the football field at the 5A level, that he’s deceptively strong and a big playmaker. With just 36 carries for 106 yards last fall, Jefferson will need the young running back to ramp up those numbers this season.
He became more of a factor on defense last year as a defensive back, finishing the season with 37 tackles, two interceptions and recovering a fumble. This season, he’ll be heavily relied upon on both sides of the ball.

Kalolero’s freshman highlight video is packed with potential. While he still must prove himself at the varsity level, the fresh/soph film impresses. He shows traits you can’t teach at the running back position. He’s maneuvers fluidly up field with patience, setting up his blocks and accelerating through the hole before finding an extra gear in the open field. His older brother, Ishara Kalolero Ishara Kalolero 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Cedar Rapids Jefferson | 2025 State IA (’25), served as Jefferson’s top back last season, rushing for 852 yards (6.1 YPC) and 10 touchdowns in nine games.

Attention Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, help might be on the way in the form of Kalolero at Running Back. The Hawks haven’t won a game since October of 2019, but he could help be the change. Good speed and agility for the 5’7″, 155-pounder, as he was clocked at a 4.85 in the forty this past winter. Long way to go for him and Jefferson High School, but there’s a hope.
