led the attack through the air and on the ground for the Hawks last fall. Nearly in rarified air in 2024, Fuson was almost part of the small group of players that ran and passed for over 1,000 yards. All-in-all, Fuson completed 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 24 touchdowns to go with 127 carries for 902 yards and 13 scores.
Seeing what Fuson is capable of on film contextualizes the stats even more. A technically sound passer that can get some air under the ball and a runner that shows great balance to stay on his feet despite taking hits, Fuson may be one of the more underrecruited quarterbacks/athletes in Iowa.

Talan Fuson was one of the more productive quarterbacks in all of 1A last fall. Moving up to 2A and losing one of his top receivers in Max Dalton will make is difficult to replicate nearly passing and rushing for over 1,000 yards last season.
All-in-all, Fuson completed 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 24 touchdowns to go with 127 carries for 902 yards and 13 scores. Given what he could do on the air and on the ground, Fason possesses athleticism that makes him appear to be one of the more underrecruited prospects in the state, opting to commit to Morningside University in July.

entered the 2024 season as one of the top DB prospects in the state, but his versatility was put on full display as Fuson was one of the most electric QBs in the division last year. Fuson threw for 1856 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 picks, while rushing for 902 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Fuson’s passing mechanics grew exponentially this season, and he became much more dangerous as a QB as he became more confident in his passing. Fuson has established himself as a very legitimate two-way threat, and after guiding Woodward-Granger to their highest win total since 2012, he could parlay that success into making a deep playoff run in 2025.

entered the 2024 season as one of the top DB prospects heading into the class of 2026, but he’s rewritten that statement as he’s developed into a legitimately dangerous athlete under Center. Fuson finished the season with over 1800 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while adding 902 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Fuson translated his speed and athleticism from the secondary to becoming a brilliant dual-threat QB. Fuson was unstoppable on the ground, but he really impressed me with his growth across the season on his passes, showing nice touch and depth on his deep throws. If he can continue improving on that throwing ability and accuracy, Fuson could help the Hawks achieve big things in 2025 after reaching the second round of the playoffs this season.

has done a spectacular job leading Woodward-Granger’s offense, and he wraps up the regular season by leading the Hawks to their best win-total since 2012. On the road against West Central Valley, Fuson finished 8 of 14 for 154 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a pick, and he added 38 rushing yards on 13 carries. Fuson’s athleticism and skillset has been so unique for this team, and while he wasn’t able to generate much on the ground this week, Fuson hit some brilliant passes during the night, including a 59 yard touchdown that came off a deep bomb. Fuson has done a great job establishing himself as a dangerous leader for the offense this season, and now his skillset will be put to the test in the postseason as he looks to navigate the Hawks to the state championship.

is one of the top DBs in the state, but he’s also held his own as a solid signal-caller for Woodward-Granger’s offense. Fuson was explosive in week 3 against Interstate 35, finishing the game 8 of 11 for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns, while adding 13 carries for 88 yards. Watching him in the pocket, Fuson has a tall, commanding presence, but he’s shown exceptional athleticism as a dynamic scrambler. As a passer, Fuson has shown glimpses of excellent timing and a great arm which allowed him to make big plays against the secondary. Fuson is a two-way standout that will keep the Hawks on the hunt for a playoff berth throughout this season.
