this year. Last season, Mahler-Moreno grabbed 34 catches for 749 yards (22 yards per catch) and 11 scores. An 89-yard touchdown reception, where he tracked the ball and hauled it in at the last second, definitely helps out those averages, but Mahler-Moreno’s yards per catch numbers are among the best in the state.
Like Hoben, he and his team will be moving up from 1A this fall.

is one of the best pass-catchers in Class 1A Iowa heading into his senior year, but his size and versatility has allowed him to find significant success as an edge rusher as well. Moreno recorded 44.5 tackles (38 solo), 19.5 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception in 2024. Moreno was a beast on the outside-edge, with his speed, power, and strong hands as a receiver translating well as an edge-rusher. Moreno was often able to find his way into the backfield almost untouched, forcing consistent pressure in the backfield, and he also flashed as an outside zone defender in shutting down the short-pass game. Moreno is a legitimate two-way player who can find success in either position at the next level.

is another top TE prospect that has been explosive as a big-bodied outside WR. Mahler-Moreno finished with 749 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on just 34 catches, averaging 22 yards per reception. Mahler-Moreno is a dangerous deep threat that succeeded often by getting behind the secondary and catching the ball in stride, and while he may not seem quick running the ball, he boasts game speed that is able to burn defenders once he reaches the open field. Mahler-Moreno should continue to serve as a consistent threat toward opposing secondaries for one more season.
