It's playoff football in Tennessee, and Prep Redzone is here to preview each classification ahead of the first round on Friday night. I did my 3A preview yesterday. Now, I'm here to talk about 6A.

This classification is somewhat top-heavy with five or six legitimate contenders, but don't sleep on the next tier of teams.

There are multiple programs sprinkled in the bracket that could pull off some upsets and make a deep postseason run.

That's enough talk for now, so let's get into my 2025 TSSAA 6A State Playoffs preview with the bracket, championship favorites, top prospects and more.

Top Title Contenders/Favorites

Oakland: The Patriots come into the postseason with a perfect 10-0 record, the sixth time in the last 11 years. While there's not quite the star power on Oakland that we're used to seeing, this may be Kevin Creasy's best all-around team he's had.

Their defense is one of the best in Tennessee, surrendering fewer than 10 points per game. Their front seven is dynamic, and the secondary is led by blue-chip DBs [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt'].

On the other side of the ball, Tutt and underrated 2026 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1603958' first='Justis' last='Haggard'] are a nice two-headed monster at running back, while the Pats run a productive two-quarterback system.

Wyatt and junior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='904730' first='Velon' last='Henderson'] lead the way at wide receiver to offer multiple quality weapons to quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id='424644' first='Kam' last='Morton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='866735' first='Donte' last='Cameron'].

Maryville: What a surprise, the Maryville Rebels are once again in the state championship picture. The Rebs lost their season opener to Alcoa before rattling off nine consecutive wins, all of which were by at least 25 points.

MHS is averaging over 40 points per game offensively, while boasting one of the best defenses in 6A.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1723184' first='Will' last='Jones'] is one of the better quarterbacks in his classification and has a plethora of talented skill guys at his disposal. Whether you talk about [player_tooltip player_id='800786' first='Tory' last='Beaufort'], Cohen Babelay or Cameron Porter, there's no shortage of weapons.

Ravenwood: The Raptors are one of my favorite teams to watch in the state. They're a complete roster with a heavy veteran presence, which is precisely what a team needs when chasing a state championship.

Ravenwood runs a two-quarterback system with [player_tooltip player_id='402540' first='Femi' last='Babalola'] and [player_tooltip player_id='402559' first='Maverick' last='Chance'], then you add powerful running back [player_tooltip player_id='1103577' first='Caden' last='Pace'] to make their rushing attack one of the most feared in 6A.

Defensively, they're stout with a good secondary and one of the best linebackers for the 2026 class with [player_tooltip player_id='1373099' first='Matthew' last='Anderson'], who's having a terrific season.

Collierville: The Dragons are 7-3 heading into the playoffs, with two of their losses being to out-of-state schools. They're a star-studded team, starting with the offense that's run-heavy and features two blue-chip recruits in wide receiver Tae Walden Jr. and running back [player_tooltip player_id='1669050' first='Lawrence' last='Autry'].

Autry is averaging over 100 all-purpose yards per game, with Collierville rushing for over 200 per game as a team.

Walden Jr. is a premier WR1 who provides the big-play threat when they decide to throw the football.

The Dragons' defense is the best part of their team, with a scary defensive front that's spent all season in the opposing backfield. They recorded 32 sacks and 99 TFLs throughout the regular season, while their secondary is solid, too.

Collierville may not be the first team that comes to mind when talking about state title contenders, but they're certainly in the mix.

Southwind: Southwind is one of just three undefeated teams in the 6A classification, with a top-tier quarterback in senior [player_tooltip player_id='480742' first='Kelvin' last='Perkins']. The dual-threat player threw for nearly 2,000 yards while running for 831 and totaling 50 touchdowns.

Other players help get it done, but it's more of a by-committee thing, while Perkins is the superstar who runs the offense.

When you flip to the other side of the ball, the Jaguars have a good defense led by a trio of outstanding football players on the defensive line.

[player_tooltip player_id='854363' first='Charles' last='Sullins'], [player_tooltip player_id='1699523' first='Roosevelt' last='Bates'] and Kaveous Middleton have been dominant this season with 14 sacks and 38 TFLs just by themselves.

Oak Ridge: The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season last week in a 34-0 beatdown by Maryville. However, this is a team that's been dominant all season, so there should still be immense trust in them to make a deep run.

Oak Ridge has a balanced offense behind star running back [player_tooltip player_id='1567420' first='Damillyan' last='Porter'], who's averaging over 130 all-purpose yards per game. He's been impressive, but don't sleep on the passing game.

[player_tooltip player_id='205650' first='Blaine' last='Stansberry'] is a solid quarterback with two big weapons in four-star tight end [player_tooltip player_id='483481' first='Malik' last='Howard'] and Miami (OH) wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='331829' first='Will' last='Pressley'].

With this offense and a defense that's been good at keeping teams off the scoreboard, Oak Ridge can undoubtedly make a deep run.

Sleeper Teams

Blackman: After a short rebuild, Matt Kreisky has the Blaze rolling into the postseason at 9-1 and on a four-game winning streak.

They're another team with a tenacious defense, including one of the best secondaries in Tennessee, led by seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1589509' first='A'Darien' last='Davis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1614217' first='Jaden' last='Lark'].

On the offensive side of things, they have a good duo at running back with Jabari Kemp and [player_tooltip player_id='1029916' first='Micah' last='Nance'].

2027 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'] is one of the top players in his class, giving the Blaze a big body who can also take the top off defenses. [player_tooltip player_id='1030583' first='Brycen' last='Mitchell'] is another name to watch, as he's more of a shifty, finesse receiver who's been a good complement to Oduor.

Antioch: The Antioch Bears' trenches worry me, but their skill players are just so good that you can't take them out of the picture.

[player_tooltip player_id='966033' first='Brandon' last='Goliday'], [player_tooltip player_id='1617205' first='Aaden' last='Adams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1523324' first='Khalil' last='Ferguson'] are one of the best wide receiver trios in 6A, then you have to mention who their quarterback is.

[player_tooltip player_id='378901' first='Andre' last='Adams'] is having arguably the best season of anybody in the state of Tennessee.

This season, the four-star signal caller has 3,494 total yards and 41 touchdowns to just two turnovers. He brings a dual-threat ability and is somebody who can beat a team all by himself.

Defensively, Antioch isn't anything special. But they've been good at creating negative plays, and you can count on them to force a turnover or two each game because that's what they have done all year.

Germantown: The Red Devils have put together another successful season, going 7-3 and taking the two seed in 6A Region 8.

I love what they have on offense between quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1588108' first='Jour'din' last='Shelton'] and his receiving core led by senior tight end [player_tooltip player_id='402535' first='Derreon' last='Rogers'].

Their defense has given up some points at times, but it has been extremely opportunistic and effective at creating negative plays. If they can figure out some stuff and play consistently, they could make things interesting.

Top Prospects to Watch

DB [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'] – Oakland

Tutt is having another excellent season for his squad. The senior is Oakland's starting running back, but has not been asked to do much with the team leading by such a large margin early in games.

The Ole Miss commit also plays safety. He's excellent in coverage, has great instincts and is a smart football player. Tutt can also lay the boom and is a team-first guy who will do whatever it takes to win.

ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt'] – Oakland

Wyatt has unbelievable size at 6-foot-4 and 192 pounds. He's extremely lengthy and flies around to play a great center field. The 2026 recruit is also a dependable wide receiver who's made a plethora of big plays throughout the season.

He's an athletic freak who can be utilized in multiple positions. He has made a significant impact on Oakland as he continues his quest for a state championship before heading to Rocky Top.

LB [player_tooltip player_id='1373099' first='Matthew' last='Anderson'] – Ravenwood: Anderson is an absolute animal at linebacker who takes over games defensively. The senior already had over 107 total tackles, five sacks and 29 TFLs in the regular season. He's explosive, has a high motor, is a good tackler and is highly physical.

While he's a tad undersized, Anderson is built well and makes up for it with his energy on the gridiron. He's genuinely one of the most underrated players in the state and will be a baller at the next level; somebody needs to give him a chance.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'] – Blackman

Oduor is having an impressive season for the Blackman Blaze. He doesn't get a ton of usage since there are many mouths to feed in that offense. But when he gets targets, he shows people why he has Power Four offers.

He's an anomaly of a receiver, standing at 6-foot-3 but still having great athleticism, speed and elusiveness. Oduor's deep threat ability and big body will be key to giving Blackman a downfield passing attack in the playoffs.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='480742' first='Kelvin' last='Perkins'] – Southwind

Perkins is one of the most dynamic players in Tennessee, boasting a great skill set that enables him to do whatever is necessary to secure a win for his team.

Southwind has one of the most complete teams in the state. But when it comes deep in the postseason, where you're playing elite teams, Perkins is someone who can make a significant difference.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='378901' first='Andre' last='Adams'] – Antioch

The junior signal caller is a true dual-threat player who can hurt you in multiple ways. He features a strong arm, great touch on his passes, good pocket awareness and a high football IQ.

On the ground, he's a monster as well. Adams is blazing fast while understanding how to use his legs effectively. His game is electric, and he will continue to rack up offers as Division I programs realize his talent.

TE [player_tooltip player_id='483481' first='Malik' last='Howard'] – Oak Ridge

Howard is an animal on the gridiron. He's a big-bodied tight end with a good blend of speed and athleticism, making him a mismatch for anyone that Oak Ridge faces.

They have a good team, but Howard is someone that they must lean on in the playoffs.

DL Marshall Smith Jr. – Collierville

Marshall Smith Jr. is one of the top defenders in the state, who contributes on both sides of the ball but excels on the defensive front.

Early on, it should be smooth sailing for the Dragons. However, he's one of the true difference makers in 6A who can go out there and win a game for you.

He will be a vital piece to this state championship contender.

WR Tae Walden Jr. – Collierville:

Walden Jr. is a dynamic wide receiver who's been so good all season for Collierville and will continue to be one of the go-to weapons.

He's a bigger receiver at 6-foot-2, but maintains his athleticism and explosiveness to be used in a multitude of ways.

CHS has a few big weapons, but having someone like Walden Jr. is a significant plus when facing the kinds of defenses that Collierville will play.

OL [player_tooltip player_id='1159814' first='Antonio' last='Keefer'] – Southwind

Keefer is a multi-year starter and brings much-needed experience to this state title contender. He has taken another strong step forward as he continues to develop into his unique combination of size, traits and athleticism that makes him such an exciting prospect.

Keefer possesses the length and versatility to play both tackle and guard at a high level with continued development, working with a college coaching staff.

It's playoff football in Tennessee, and Prep Redzone is here to preview each classification ahead of the first round on Friday night. I did my 3A preview yesterday. Now, I'm here to talk about 6A.
