- When our new senior rankings come out soon, Valade will be in the mix to be our top rated defensive back prospect in the state and that's due to his exceptional upside at cornerback and his ability to lock down one side of the field. The Fighting Irish senior could be the fastest prospect from the entire TN2027 class and that speed presents a ton of potential when it comes to playing on the island. Valade is an agile, sudden, twitchy mover that transitions his hips well to stay on path with the receiver then uses his technique and tenacity to blanket his opponent and either break up the pass or keep him shielded. Getting a little bigger is the only thing right now that I think Valade needs to work on but otherwise, all the tools are in place for this East Tennessee product to be one of the best corner prospects in the country.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='1422977' first='Miles' last='Brown'] - Westview

- Brown is a multi talented young man that honestly could develop at several secondary positions but his biggest upside resides at cornerback. The Chargers defender is a natural athlete with great physical size that could work wonders on the island. Brown can run too. He displays on the film excellent footwork and speed that allows him to stay on the receivers hip and keep his body between him and the ball. Brown plays with good technique and doesn't get too handsy. He will be patient and allow his athleticism, intelligence and speed to win on the outside. Brown has no problem tackling in run support as well. Playing the island isn't the only value Brown brings to the field as he could develop into an outstanding special teams guy at either gunner or in the return game.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='1642438' first='Romel' last='Koon, Jr'] - Brentwood Academy

- The Middle Tennessee region has several quality secondary prospects with Koon, Jr being one of the best. This senior defender has nice college upside playing on the boundary as a potential cover corner that could lock down one side of the field due his athleticism and twitchy lower base movements. Koon, Jr runs well, showing the ability to keep on track with his receiver and be right there to break on the pass upon arrival. The Eagles senior displays quick feet, especially when changing directions to keep on path. He plays hard and fast with a desire to keep the ball out of his receivers hands. The coverage abilities are in place for Koon, Jr but he does need to get bigger and stronger to sustain himself on the big stage of college football. If he can become more physical on the outside, his game would flourish much more.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='933041' first='Darion' last='Taylor'] - Humboldt

- Coming from a small part of West Tennessee, not many people know too much about Taylor but he is someone to dig into further due to his potential to handle cover corner on the collegiate gridiron. The Vikings senior brings a lot of physical tools and traits to the field that should be appealing to college coaches and his ability to play on the island. Taylor uses his size to his advantage by getting into receivers early and letting them feel him then the Vikings defensive back stays on path due to his speed. He uses his long arms to make things difficult for the quarterback to make easy passes. Taylor plays with good technique and doesn't appear to get too rattled in the midst of action. While he does run well, I can see where Taylor could get faster. If he can increase the speed this off-season, you might see his stock soar during the Fall months.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='2105993' first='Troy' last='Porties'] - Brentwood Academy

- The Eagles might end up having the best cornerback tandem in the state for the 2026 season, especially if Porties continues to develop in the proper direction over these off-season months. What I like most about this Mid-Tennessee product is his tenacious mentality and willingness to be physical on the outside. What's also appealing about Porties is his versatility. I could see the Eagles senior developing at corner, nickel or safety but I do like his upside handling action on the island. Porties could handle the boundary due to his athleticism, speed and high football intelligence. This guy competes at a high level, showing the desire and want-to to be good at his craft. He doesn't have the ideal size that some college staffs may like but Porties is a good football player that could be more than competitive playing cornerback on the next level.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='2114143' first='Brody' last='Haddox'] - Centennial: Haddox is someone to keep track of moving forward as he may have some of the best raw talent and upside of anybody within our TN2027 class. Tall and long with a wide radius, Haddox has the ability to blanket his receiver due to his physical tools but he also displays good speed as well. The Cougars senior does need further development on the outside along with adding more weight but I love the potential here with Haddox and his upside on the college stage.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='1979576' first='Jabarie' last='Acree'] - Clarksville: The Wildcats have produced solid defensive back prospects over the past few years but Acree might turn out to be the best. This guy is a natural athlete that moves, runs well while having good ball skills and the ability to high point the ball. Acree transitions nicely with his opponent and closes fast. He does need to pack on more weight but the raw, athletic tools are in place to handle the boundary in college.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='2129049' first='Jayven' last='Norris'] - Kirkwood: Norris could be a breakout performer during the 2026 season, especially if he develops in the right direction throughout these off-season months. What stands out about the Cobras senior is his physical size and ability to run. Norris could be the fastest prospect on the Kirkwood roster and that speed along with his size could allow him to become a lock down cover corner in the college ranks one day.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='2058200' first='Marrion' last='Wilson'] - White Station: This guy is a hidden gem that I know is sitting under the radar right now but his film shows a nice skill set and raw talent that can work on the boundary. Wilson may be one of the smoothest movers I've seen scouting the cornerbacks this off-season. The Spartans senior shows a nice transition with his feet and his hips along with the speed to stay on path with his receiver. Wilson is undersized with height and weight but this dude competes hard and plays fast.

(CB) [player_tooltip player_id='1467318' first='Martavius' last='Smith'] - South Pittsburg: You gotta be athletic and fast to play the island and Smith displays those abilities on film along with upside to improve further with continued maturity. The Pirates senior defensive back brings nice arm length to the field that helps when breaking up the pass but can run with his receiver as well. Smith breaks down on the route well and closes fast towards the ball. He will need time in the weight room to get bigger but the raw talents are there to excel on the island.
