Broken Arrow defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] is continuing to have a stranglehold on the top spot in the state's 2027 class. Stanford has been that guy since his freshman season and only continues to improve in every aspect of the game. Athletically speaking, Stanford moves different than almost every player in the state at his position. Everything looks so simple for the new Broken Arrow Tigers. Then you throw in the on-field IQ that coaches have been raving about since he was a freshman. Add all of those things together and you have a player that is simply (as the kids would say) different. He's a unique talent that can impact the game in so many different ways. This offseason, he moved over to Broken Arrow and immediately gave the Tigers a boost.

There isn't another prospect in the state that has blown up quite like Fort Gibson offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1530067' first='Cooper' last='Hackett'] has in the last six months. Hackett has gone from a really intriguing prospect in the state's 2027 class to now being nationally ranked and a guy that could be one of, if not the very top guy at his position in the country. Around this time last year, Hackett was known more for his abilities on the basketball court. Time changes things in a major way. Hackett is very clearly a terrific athlete and he has the size to be an elite offensive tackle. From possibly being a five star prospect to the top guy at his position, Hackett's upside is through the roof. And like we said, there isn't a prospect in the state, regardless of class, that has more momentum than Hackett.

We've mentioned this before but it was around this time last year that we were really impressed with Bixby lineman [player_tooltip player_id='528027' first='Kaeden' last='Penny'] and more for what he could do on the defensive side of the ball. It didn't take long for that to change. Penny has emerged as one of the top left tackles in the state and is an absolute people mover from that position. Bixby had a really strong offensive line a year ago and the emergence of Penny at left tackle was a big reason behind that. In fact, it was Penny that Bixby decided to run behind on that game-winning two-point conversion in the state championship game. We got another chance to see Penny in person in the spring and he was winning rep after rep with ease. He locks on to an opponent and moves them where he wants them to go.

Washington linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] is another '27 prospect that has firmly been in the top five since we started ranking this class. Nothing had changed. Alexander is one of the best tacklers in the state and with a D1 signee for an older brother and a former NFL tight end for a dad, Alexander clearly has the genetic advantage to become another can't miss prospect. Alexander has been a force since his freshman season and he continues to improve, every time we see him on film or in person. And be on the lookout for Alexander to start impacting the game significantly more on the offensive side of the ball as a tight end. We saw glimpses of it at various times last season but he could end up becoming one of the top targets on offense for the Warriors in 2025.

Choctaw tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1035103' first='Titus' last='Hawk'] could be in that same discussion with Hackett as the hottest prospect in the state, regardless of class. It seems like Hawk's recruitment has absolutely exploded in the last six months. He's picking up offer after offer and early in his high school career, he looked like a no doubt baseball prospect. And while he's still one of the better baseball players in the state, he's getting offered by all the major programs around the country. It will be interesting to see how the baseball VS football debate goes or if there is even a debate. The last two times we've watched Hawk in person was the state title game and team camp. In both instances, he was one of the more dominant players on the field. He's a size mismatch and incredibly strong after the catch

Broken Arrow cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='521089' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] is joining Stanford as new additions to the Broken Arrow secondary and the two of them make up a very powerful duo to watch this season. Brown is a cornerback that continues to rise in confidence and has a very good reputation in the state's 2027 class. It feels like at least once a week, Brown is earning another D1 offer so the offer list continues to look the part from an elite prospect. This offseason, Brown moved over to Broken Arrow from Owasso and we're looking forward to seeing how he makes the transition. When we caught him in person this spring, his side of the field wasn't challenged very often. We're looking forward to seeing another year of film and how he develops this fall.

Booker T Washington defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1035135' first='DaWayne' last='Jones'] is an absolute nightmare for opposing offensive linemen to deal with. Jones has been lining up as an edge rusher and his bag of moves is incredibly deep and between that and his overall size and athletic ability, it makes it almost impossible for offensive linemen to stay in front of Jones. If the Booker T Washington standout can't beat you with one move, he comes back with another that gets the job done. This season, all eyes are going to be on Jones to continue to wreck shop on the Hornet defensive line. They're losing another elite '27 DL to IMG Academy and that will allow offenses to shift their focus to just slowing down Jones. How he responds to that challenge is something we want to see this fall.

Edmond Memorial linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='216547' first='Colton' last='McComb'] climbs into the top ten in this latest update and is right behind Alexander at the linebacker position. We'll be honest, McComb was going into the top ten in this update no matter what but it makes it a lot easier to defend when he's picking up D1 offers every other day. McComb's recruitment has absolutely exploded this month and shows no signs of slowing down. After we watched McComb in person last fall, we were convinced he was one of the top linebackers in the state's 2027 class. He's a tackling machine and is always around the ball. And in the last month, McComb has been proving he belongs with really strong testing numbers to go with the film that shows he's one of the top guys in the state.

Valliant defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1171159' first='Kyng' last='Golston'] has been an absolute monster at the Class 2A level for a while now and a menace on the defensive line. Golston was another example of a 2027 prospect that earned the attention of D1 programs early on in his career. His older brother is one of the top 2026 prospects in the state and just committed to Idaho so maybe we end up seeing the younger Golston end up with the Vandals as well but only time will tell. Whoever lands Golston is getting a disruptive player in the middle of a defense. Anytime we've watched him on film or in person, he's giving opposing offensive lines a ton of problems. He's been a name to know for a while now and nothing is changing as he prepares for his junior season in high school.

Jenks standout [player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] is a prospect that continues to get more and more intriguing for us. Dillard has been listed as a DB on our site for the last two years but that changes now with this latest update. Dillard is still one of the top defensive backs in Oklahoma but we're very intrigued about how Jenks will be utilizing him on the offensive side of the ball. He had a very busy offseason at various 7v7 tournaments and then in spring ball. He really impressed us with his playmaking ability at the wide receiver position. Dillard is going to give the Trojans a reliable deep ball threat on offense while also maintaining his ability to change the game defensively in the secondary. That versatility is a big reason why he's taken over the top spot at the athlete position.
