comes into this season as one of the state’s absolute best pass rushers. Around this time last year, Jones moved over to Booker T Washington from Owasso and he combined with fellow junior DL Joseph Graves to make up one of the best duos in the state. Graves has transferred out of state so now all eyes will be on Jones to see what impact he can have without his running mate. It is an interesting question but based on his athleticism and deep bag of moves, we don’t think Jones will have any problems causing havoc on the line of scrimmage. He’ll go into the 2025 football season as one of the state’s more dominant defenders.

is an absolute nightmare for opposing offensive linemen to deal with. Jones has been lining up as an edge rusher and his bag of moves is incredibly deep and between that and his overall size and athletic ability, it makes it almost impossible for offensive linemen to stay in front of Jones. If the Booker T Washington standout can’t beat you with one move, he comes back with another that gets the job done. This season, all eyes are going to be on Jones to continue to wreck shop on the Hornet defensive line. They’re losing another elite ’27 DL to IMG Academy and that will allow offenses to shift their focus to just slowing down Jones. How he responds to that challenge is something we want to see this fall.

Booker T Washington has not one, but two elite defensive linemen in the state’s 2027 class. Prior to the 2024 season kicking off,

moved over to Booker T Washington from Owasso and immediately gave the Hornets arguably the top DL duo in the state, regardless of class. Alongside Graves, Jones was in a similar situation where he was either beating the man in front of him or he was being held. And the more these two dominated, the more they worked off each other. When Graves would get double teamed, that opened the door for Jones to create mayhem in the backfield and he would fully take advantage of those limited opportunities. Jones checks a lot of the boxes from a physical standpoint and college coaches are agreeing. From his wingspan to his quick first step, Jones has a lot of the tools that those coaches are looking for from a prospect.

Booker T Washington already terrorizes opponents with Graves on the line of scrimmage and now they have two of the best guys up front.

moved over to Booker T Washington from Owasso and he’s a name that has jumped up into the top ten on this last ranking update. Jones immediately got our attention last season in the first game of his freshman year with the Rams. He had a solid offseason and in the summer, he joined Booker T Washington and when that happened, Jones and Graves became (probably) the best 1-2 punch on any defensive line in the state. Jones has also seen his recruitment take off over the last two months with multiple D1 offers. The fact that these two can play side by side definitely benefits each of their individual games.

is a name that really impressed us in his very first varsity game last season against defending champion Bixby. The freshman held his own in that season opener and would have a solid year overall. Fast forward to right now and you look at that Owasso defensive line and there is talent everywhere. Getting on the field and finding those quality reps will be a battle each week but Jones is still a name to watch. He showcased a good skillset last season and working with some outstanding teammates along the defensive line and facing arguably the best offensive line every day at practice, he should only improve moving forward.

made a statement in the first game of the year that he was going to be a force to watch. Going up against Bixby and arguably one of the best offensive lines in the state, Jones had success in Owasso’s season opener. Despite the loss, Jones was one of the standouts for the Rams and he’s going to be a name to keep an eye on moving forward. One thing that we really like about Jones is his wingspan. Based on that, he looks like he could end up growing a little more between now and his senior season. The Rams bring back some big names on both sides of the line of scrimmage and Jones has earned his way on this breakdown.

along the defensive line. We wrote about Jones back in October when we were putting a spotlight on some of the top freshmen. And Jones really impressed us in the season opener this season. The Rams fell to Bixby but Jones was one of the bright spots against a Bixby offense that was one of the best in the state and had arguably the state’s best offensive line unit. Jones followed that season opener up with a strong freshman campaign and just like Campbell, Jones has a really good chance to have a special career moving forward with the Rams.

Back in that week zero match-up with Bixby, the Rams did have some bright spots despite a 42-16 loss. One of them was the emergence of freshman defensive lineman Dawayne Jones and he had a strong performance against a very strong Bixby offensive line. Jones has only gotten better over the last three months and has an incredibly bright future. As the Rams look to slow down Bixby’s high-powered offense, don’t be surprised if Jones picks up where he left off back in August and has a major impact.

along the defensive line. From the first game of the season, it was apparent that Jones was going to be an impact player on the varsity level. In the season-opening game against Bixby, Jones was one of the bright spots in a night that did not go well for the team overall. Jones did a good job in his first ever varsity game and we put even more weight on that performance considering the opponent and Bixby’s offensive line is one of the better units in the state. Yet, Jones was still able to make plays. The Rams have quite a few younger prospects in the 2027 and 2026 class that are making plays on Friday nights. And Jones is just scratching the surface on what he can be.
