playing defensive back at the next level so we went ahead and ranked him as the top DB in the state’s 2028 class. But when you’re talking about Nero as a player, you’re talking about one of the best football players in the state. He started for Rejoice at quarterback and defensive back and was one of the best players in his class on both sides of the ball. His ability as a quarterback alone would have him considered one of the top prospects in the state’s 2028 class. But it sounds like college coaches view his ceiling higher on defense. And there was plenty of production from him there in 2025. As a sophomore, he helped guide Rejoice Christian to a second consecutive state championship.

has taken over the top overall spot in the state’s 2028 rankings this time around. The Rejoice sophomore came into this season with high expectations and he’s certainly lived up to them. He’s been an absolute playmaker on the offensive side of the ball every week this season and he’s also been incredibly effective on the defensive side of the ball. Now, speaking strictly from a prospect standpoint, all arrows are pointing to him being a defensive back at the next level. We still have him listed as an athlete in this update because of everything he’s able to do on the offensive side of the ball. But don’t be surprised if he’s moved to DB on here in the future.

was one of the players that we highlighted as a freshman to watch and he certainly lived up to the hype and then some. Compton-Nero would fill in at quarterback at various times throughout the 2024 season. He would throw for over 600 yards and nine touchdowns while running for nearly 700 yards and ten touchdowns. Compton-Nero was also a standout on defense with 75 tackles and a pair of interceptions. Now, as we look ahead to the 2025 season, it will be Compton-Nero at QB1 and his production could absolutely explode. Compton-Nero has firmly established himself as one of the top overall prospects in his class.

was one of the more impressive prospects that we watched this spring, regardless of class. We watched Rejoice at team camp and everything that Nero did was so smooth and he didn’t look like a player that had just finished his freshman year. At quarterback, he didn’t look like a player that was getting ready to become the full time starter for the first time this fall. He didn’t play as much defense on that morning but we can only assume that it was just as smooth and at times, effortless for the Rejoice standout. Similar to Thomas, he was another prospect that was on our radar going into the 2024 season and he certainly answered the call. But now, all eyes are going to be on Nero as he looks to lead the Eagles to another state championship. His future might be on the defensive side of the ball but he’s going to be one of the more electric QBs in Oklahoma this fall.

was on our radar prior to the 2024 season because of his overall athleticism but we still needed to see it with our own eyes. We got a chance to see him in person two times during the 2024 season and also a full season’s worth of film and he checks so many boxes. He’s a terrific athlete and that brings up the one big question with him as a prospect moving forward. Where will he line up when he heads to the next level? The good thing is we have three more seasons of high school football to figure that out but Compton-Nero is going to be an absolute menace for small school opponents during that time. He stood out at multiple positions in 2024, helping Rejoice Christian capture their first ever state championship and his recruitment has also taken off.
