Huntley’s Week 10 Picks

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each week I will pick the top seven games in Southern California and break them down.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had a mediocre week in week 9 going 4-3 but I have a really good feeling about this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CATHEDRAL VS. ST. PAUL</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both teams are 4-0 in Angelus League standings and the winner of this game will decide the league champion. St. Paul edged out a close win over Paraclete last week due to the dominant rushing performance of <strong>Marley Luatua</strong>. <strong>Tupu Toloai</strong> led St. Paul's defense with two sacks in that game. Cathedral beat St. Francis last week and sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='709616' first='Jaden' last='Jefferson'] had an insane game. Jefferson threw for 195 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 149 yards with a score. TUSTIN</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This game will decide the Delta League championship. Capo Valley had its best win of the season last week against a good El Modena team. [player_tooltip player_id='595827' first='Tommy' last='Acosta'] has been very good this season at quarterback for the Cougars and he does not turn the ball over. Capo's defense, led by <strong>Reily Walker</strong>, is a bend but don't break defense that is good in the redzone. Tustin has the best line that Capo will face and running back [player_tooltip player_id='976921' first='Eimesse' last='Essis'] is a workhorse. Tustin's defense has speedy linebackers [player_tooltip player_id='1197214' first='Taven' last='Epps'] and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1197207' first='Khalil' last='Terry']</strong> which can help stop Capo's short passing game. RANCHO CUCAMONGA</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Damien is undefeated in the Baseline League but Rancho Cucamonga can share a league title with Damien and Chino Hills with a win. The Spartans had a coaching change late in the summer but you wouldn't be able to tell with how well Damien has played. [player_tooltip player_id='212219' first='Isaiah' last='Arriaza'] had a big game at quarterback last week for Damien against Ayala and so did running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1698949' first='Malachi' last='McFarland']</strong>. Rancho Cucamonga is coming off a loss to Chino Hills. <strong>Keyonn Chatman</strong> has been leading the rushing game for the Cougars and <strong>Cameron Sermons</strong> leads the receivers. Husan Longstreet has had an excellent season after missing the first two games with an injury. Jonathan McKinley led Centennial's defense last week with <strong>Boogie Williams.</strong> Chaparral hasn't missed a beat this season with sophomore quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1611225' first='Dane' last='Weber']</strong> leading the offense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1582158' first='Justin' last='Selway']</strong> had a big defensive game against Roosevelt last week. SERRA</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is the best game of the week. The winner will be the Mission League champions and it could effect playoff seeding. Serra is coming off a blowout win over Bishop Amat. <strong>Jimmy Butler</strong> is Mr. Consistent at quarterback and he has some good receivers in <strong>Malachi Holt</strong>, [player_tooltip player_id='282751' first='Jadyn' last='Robinson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='408802' first='Duvay' last='Williams']. [player_tooltip player_id='723769' first='CJ' last='McBean'] is one of the best playmakers in the area on defense along with [player_tooltip player_id='283646' first='Marcellous' last='Ryan']. [player_tooltip player_id='780328' first='Khary' last='Wilder'] flies around the field. Sierra Canyon is 6-3 with all of its losses coming against Trinity League teams. [player_tooltip player_id='282703' first='Dane' last='Dunn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='584471' first='Jaxsen' last='Stokes'] have been good at running back for Sierra Canyon and [player_tooltip player_id='282687' first='Wyatt' last='Becker'] is an experienced quarterback. [player_tooltip player_id='401278' first='Madden' last='Riordan'] leads the Southern Section in interceptions and [player_tooltip player_id='1000953' first='Ronen' last='Zamorano'] is a tackling machine.
