Sierra Canyon defensive back Jae’on Young Jae’on Young 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Sierra Canyon | 2025 State CA announced his commitment to Cal on Monday.

Young had 29 tackles with an interception and a fumble recovery last season.

He chose Cal over 12 other schools that offered him including BYU, Oregon and Texas A&M among others.

Young is the fourth player from California in Cal’s 2025 recruiting class.

Young is an exceptional athlete with great fluidity, twitch, and top end speed. He’s got outstanding ability to transition and explode out of his breaks to close space and make a play on the ball. In coverage he’s got great reactionary quickness and short area burst to match movement and recover. Speed gives him the range to cover the whole field. Does a good job playing through the hands of the receiver at the catch point. Possesses the positional versatility to play either side of the ball at the college level. He had three offers going into the spring until an amazing track season helped him shoot up recruiting boards. Ran a 21.87 in the 200M and a 10.77 in the 100M. Since then he’s collected seven more offers including USC, Oregon, Washington, and Washington State. One of the top sprinters in the state that will continue to see increased recruiting attention from high level programs.
