And we have not slowed down in August. The past week has been all about the individuals to watch this season. From our Preseason All State teams to comeback players and freshmen to watch and much more, we have you covered. In this post, it's time to continue our class by class previews. Again, this is all put together to get you ready for the 2024 season. Fairview AT Kingston</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kingston comes into this season with a lot of momentum after going 10-2 and they have the majority of their starters back, making them a top five team in the preseason rankings. But the Redskins might not get a tougher test in the regular season than their week one home game with defending champion Fairview. The Yellowjackets have won the last two Class A state titles and have won 30 games in a row. They have one of the best quarterbacks in the state, regardless of class and will provide Kingston with a major test in early September. Now, if the Redskins are able to pull off the win here and snap Fairview's winning streak, there will be no doubt that they are one of the teams to beat. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>September 6th - Jones AT Kiefer</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We'll get a top ten showdown in week one as #8 Kiefer will host #3 Jones and we're big fans of both of these programs coming into this season. Jones and Kiefer are both testing themselves with very difficult non-district schedules. That should certainly pay off as they go into district play and look to contend in Class 2A-1. Both of these teams made runs all the way to the 2A semifinals last season and are looking to erase the memory of last year's heartache. Kiefer is going to have a team that looks somewhat new as they have to replace a decent amount of production. Jones is in a similar position in some areas but also bring back some heavy hitters to potentially contend for another gold ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>September 20th - Heritage Hall AT Millwood</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We've gotten used to seeing Heritage Hall and Millwood squaring off in the season opener over the last several seasons. This year, they'll renew their rivalry in week three and it will serve as the final tune up game for both teams before entering district play. Both teams come into this season after finishing last year as the runner up in their respective class. And both teams also come into this year looking to make it back to Edmond and raise the gold ball. This series has been a competitive one, although Heritage Hall has definitely had the advantage recently. But Millwood could come into this year's meeting as the more experienced team and a win here could give the Falcons a ton of momentum. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>October 4th - Jones AT Millwood</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When we look at the 2024 season in Class 2A-1 and compare it to our preseason rankings, there's not another game on the slate that should be more anticipated than this one. Millwood is hosting Jones in a district showdown and the district championship could be on the line but these two are at the top of what should be a very competitive district. Millwood comes in as the number two team in our preseason rankings while Jones is right behind them at number three. The Falcons are hungry to bring back the state title after back to back 2A runner up finishes. Jones has been knocking on the door of contending, including making it all the way to the semifinals a year ago. This match-up looks great. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>October 17th - Marlow AT Washington</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All eyes are on Washington heading into this season. They are back to back state champions and have won their last 30 games. They've also made four straight trips to the title games and only two losses during that stretch. But on a Fall Break Thursday night, they'll get arguably their toughest test of the regular season when Marlow comes to town. Marlow is reloading coming into this season but the Outlaws have proven they are one of the better and consistent teams, no matter what class they are in. They drop down to 2A football after two seasons in 3A. The last time Marlow was playing in Class 2A? They won the state championship in 2021 and they were the last team to beat Washington. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2024 SEASON OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's a new era for Class 2A football as we head into the 2024 football season and beyond. The class has now been split into two divisions and for Class 2A-1, there are some serious heavy hitters still remaining. The conversation starts with two-time defending state champion Washington, who comes into this season with a massive target as they've won their last 30 games and don't plan on falling off anytime soon. Then you have traditional contenders like Jones, Metro Christian and Millwood who are all experienced and have talent to make a run at the two-time champions. Marlow is back in 2A football after two seasons in Class 3A and the Outlaws are always going to be a team to look out for. Then you have a group of teams that might not be traditional powers but they have special senior classes to make the 2024 season a memorable one. Kingston and Perry both fit that category and while they might be flying under the radar with other outlets, we have them firmly in our preseason top ten. There are some really good players all over this class and 2A-1 could end up being fairly competitive throughout the 2024 season. But the overwhelming storyline coming into this year will be the split into two divisions. The districts feel more competitive than before and teams will have to be ready to go every single time they hit the field this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
