In the last month, Thompson picked up his first D1 offer and he shows no signs of slowing down as we head into the spring and summer months. And that phrase right there, “signs of slowing down” is used on purpose with Thompson because he has one gear and that’s fast. Thompson is routinely the fastest player on the football field week after week. He made some huge plays for the Falcons as a junior and is primed for an even bigger senior season. Thompson should be the go-to target in the Millwood offense.

Millwood has some blazing fast players on the offensive side of the ball and junior speedster Xzavier Thompson Xzavier Thompson 5'10" | 145 lbs | WR Millwood | 2025 State OK is one of them. Whenever Thompson and Nickens are lined up on the same side of the offense, it’s a nightmare for opposing defenses on who they try to contain. Thompson is also an electric player in the return game for the Falcons. While Nickens gets a lot of headlines, and rightfully so, it would be foolish to overlook Thompson when it comes to this match-up. Thompson has been outstanding on the offensive side of the ball this season but don’t overlook what he can do as a return specialist on Saturday night against Washington.

Thompson was one of Millwood’s leading receivers last season with over 700 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. He also turned around and played defense and would return punts. He took two punts back for touchdowns last season. Thompson is a speedster that is incredibly dangerous in the open field. We mentioned how Turnbull is primed to have a massive season in terms of his production. Because with Nickens as a threat in the passing game as well in addition to Thompson, this Millwood offense has the potential to be one of the top units in Class 2A. We’re interested to see what Thompson’s all around production looks like this fall.

We threw on the tape of Thompson not knowing much about him going into it. We knew the name and we knew that speed was a big part of what made him special last season and then the tape showed the exact same thing. Thompson is incredibly dangerous and slippery when he gets the ball in the open field. One game in particular that stood out was in the playoffs with snow on the ground. Footing wasn’t exactly going to be easy and that actually made Thompson even harder to bring down. Thompson did quite a bit of damage on end arounds and in the return game. We’re interested to see what else he can do on both sides of the ball. We also want to see him in person to get a good idea about his size and how he stacks up to prospects similar to him.
