is one of the better 2025 prospects in the state and he committed to Illinois State earlier this offseason. Smith is your prototypical “jumbo athlete” because he can be moved around on the line of scrimmage with his unique blend of size and overall athleticism. Smith is listed at 6’7 and 250 pounds and we featured him earlier this year on a film breakdown. He really impressed us with his versatility and he could easily play on either side of the ball. Last season, Smith would finish with nearly 50 tackles and five sacks as a junior. This season, he’s going to be leaned on to be Prague’s star while the new starters come along and get used to playing at this level.

as a “jumbo athlete” because of his versatility along the line of scrimmage. On offense, he’s a tight end but with his frame and growth over the last 12 months, it’s not a stretch to see him on the offensive line at some point. On defense, he’s a nightmare coming off the edge as a defensive end. And that growth that we mentioned has been Smith basically living in the weight room. He’s added 15-20 pounds since the end of last season and he’s continuing to turn himself into a prospect that college coaches need to know about. He committed to Illinois State earlier this year.

is going to be one of the more intriguing 2025 prospects to watch this spring and summer. Smith is flying under the radar right now but we don’t think that lasts long if coaches make an effort to check Smith out. The film is very impressive and he has a very high ceiling moving forward. First off, he is an absolute monster of an athlete and we simply do not see a player of his size and ability at the Class 2A level very often. And when we break down an athlete with that kind of size advantage, we want to see him dominate and that’s what Smith did last year. He impacts the game in a variety of ways and even when he’s not making the play, his size and skill usually forces the offense away from him. His wingspan and vision is outstanding. There was one play where an offensive lineman had Smith wrapped up but because of his long arms, he was able to just reach out and strip a ball carrier trying to get by him. And when Smith does get free from constant double teams, he is a mean tackler in the open field. He hits the ball carrier with bad intentions and there aren’t many guys that are getting away from him.
