As just a freshman, Shelton stood out and it was pretty clear even then that he was going to be one of the top guys at his position in this class. Fast forward three years and that’s certainly been the case. Shelton has always been considered one of the very best at his position. He might not get as much pub as some of the other guys in the major metro areas but he definitely belongs in the conversation with them. Just throw on the tape of the last several seasons and you see a player that is one of the better overall athletes in the state’s 2026 class.

Looking up and down this breakdown, Hugo’s Quincy Shelton Quincy Shelton 6'0" | WR/DB Hugo | 2026 State OK might be the 2026 prospect we’ve known the longest amount of time. We first got Shelton on our radar following his freshman season, where he earned a starting role and really hasn’t let it go. Shelton has continued to work on his craft and he is legitimately one of the best overall playmakers in southeastern Oklahoma. He’s been pretty consistent where he’s fallen in the 2026 class, ranging anywhere from 10-20 and he has the offers to back up the hype. Shelton is one of the more reliable wide receiver threats in the state’s 2026 class and he’s been doing it since his freshman season in 2022.

You can make the argument that Shelton has been the most consistent playmaker at the wide receiver position in the state’s 2026 class. Since he was a freshman, Shelton has been on our radar and is one of the better small school standouts in the state. We’ve been able to watch him in person over the last several offseasons and he’s always impressed. He catches almost everything thrown his way and there isn’t much to knock when it comes to his game. Shelton’s consistency and reliability is a big reason why we think that he’s one of the state’s top prospects and it doesn’t hurt that he has Hugo as a dark horse in 2A-1 this year.

We’ve seen him in person quite a bit over the last 18 months but it’s mostly been in 7v7 settings. However, throw on the film and you see a player that can catch almost anything that is thrown his way. His leaping ability is off the charts and it doesn’t take long to see that he’s a terrific athlete. Shelton has been on the Prep Redzone radar for a while but he’s also been on the Prep Hoops radar just as long. He’s a terrific basketball player but it looks like his future is going to be on the gridiron. He just has a knack for making a difficult play look easy and he does it time after time.
