is going to be the “X-Factor” of this Jones offense throughout the 2024 season. As Hansen becomes more comfortable in the offense, we expect Ellefson to be one of his top targets early on because of his significant size advantage. Ellefson is listed at 6’6 and there aren’t going to be many teams that have the personnel to counter what Ellefson can do, specifically in the red zone. But while his receiving will provide a significant boost to the offense, don’t overlook him putting his hand in the dirt and becoming an extension of this offensive line. With four new starters, the Longhorns could use Ellefson helping out on the edge.

and he was another prospect that impressed us when we watched him in person this spring. We saw Ellefson in person once last fall and then checked out his film from junior season. He’s an impressive tight end prospect that brings a lot to the table other than his height, which makes him a match-up nightmare. Ellefson would then have a good showing at the team camp in May and talking with a few college coaches in attendance, he was one of the top guys that stood out to them as well. Ellefson is definitely a tight end prospect to watch moving forward. He’s the complete package at that position.

is our final prospect on this week’s breakdown and he is in a similar boat to Smith at Prague. This spring and summer could be big for Ellefson in terms of his recruitment and as more coaches see him in person, there’s a lot to like with his physical traits and his game on the field. Looking at the film, it’s hard not to be impressed with the frame and his versatility in the Longhorn offense. He looked like he was just as comfortable lining up as a traditional tight end as he was split out at wide receiver. And when we looked at his complete highlight, that word kept coming up. Complete. Ellefson has all the tools to be a terrific tight end prospect. First off, with that 6’6 frame, he is an absolute red zone nightmare and jump balls in the end zone became more than 50-50 balls when they were thrown up to Ellefson. But he’s not just a terrific red zone threat. He also has plenty of plays from last season where he absolutely punishes a defender and is a very strong blocker. Ellefson might be considered a hidden gem right now in Oklahoma’s 2025 class but that shouldn’t be the case moving forward. There are a lot of tools here.
