is the state’s top overall prospect for the second straight ranking update. He’s going to have to hold off some serious threats at the OL position over the next few years to go wire to wire as the state’s top overall prospect. But it feels like a lock that Reed will go wire to wire as the state’s top QB prospect. He came into his freshman season as the favorite to be the most impactful freshman in the state and he even exceeded those expectations with his play with Altus last season. Now, he’s moved over to Jones and he has the Longhorns looking like a team that can go win the 3A state title after they captured the 2A-1 crown last season.

is the top overall prospect in the state’s 2029 class for our initial rankings. Reed started for Altus in 2025 and helped guide the Bulldogs back to the playoffs, putting up monster numbers in the pass and run game. Reed’s dad was the head coach at Altus and he stepped down to become the new offensive coordinator at Muskogee. So now, Reed moves up to the 6A-2 level and instantly makes the Roughers a team to watch throughout the 2026 season. In January, we announced Reed as our 2025 Freshman Of The Year and when you throw on the film and look at him from a pure prospect standpoint, there is a lot to like. He checks a lot of the boxes and he’s only going to get better from here. He’s incredibly athletic, he has good size and he can sling the ball all over the field. Our one time to see him in person was in the worst weather conditions and he still impressed.

is running away with this award. He’s led the Bulldogs to a 5-0 start on the season and he’s putting up monster numbers on a weekly basis. Whether he’s using his arm or legs, he’s torching defenses and it doesn’t matter if he’s only playing a quarter and a half (like last week) or a full game. Reed has been incredibly productive and he’s lived up to all the offseason hype. Reed was a 2029 prospect that we really liked coming into his freshman season. We got the chance to watch him in person and also countless clips of his overall athletic ability and were sold he would be a good player. But he’s exceeded all preseason expectations. We’re looking forward to seeing how Reed handles the second half of the regular season against the tougher part of the Altus schedule.
