Talk about taking off on a rocket. Russell started this year outside our top 100. He’s now our No. 12 player in the state and is a bonafide Power Five wide receiver. Since his first game of the season against Imhotep, Russell showed that he was the best wide receiver that Bishop McDevitt had this season and he never stopped. I saw Russell light up an Imhotep secondary back in week One, only to end his phenomenal year scorching an even finer-tuned Aliquippa defense. Russell simply couldn’t do more. He showed he can separate when running short/intermediate routes. He showed he can hit home runs with his stride. He even showed he’s capable of working through contact both at the LOS as well as through the duration of his route. His performance meant the most to me.

Despite Russell dominating secondaries all year long, I think the kid has the makings of an elite corner if molded correctly, especially if he’s molded by SEC staff. His body type could earn him money on the defensive side of the field. If not, he will separate at will and catch touchdowns for years to come. His play against an elite secondary in Aliquippa should solidify his stock, as well as his rank on our site.

Russell has been the best wide receiver for Bishop McDevitt all season and has really broken out to be one of the Keystone State’s premier playmakers. Any ball thrown his way has a great chance of being caught and he’s shown it against all levels of competition. Russell is currently just outside our top-100 but with his senior season, he is going to break well into the top-100 and is likely going to be inside the top-25. He’s recently earned Power Five offers from South Carolina and Virginia Tech with more likely on the way.
