One way to do that is to provide a “quick hit” on each player in our rankings. In these quick hits, I’ll provide a quick general summarization of what each player provides in their skillset.
Williams is one of the best offensive linemen in the entire country, physically he’s well built and college ready. His run blocking is superb, his pass protection for someone who plays in a wing-t offense is pretty strong as well. Penn State has a good one in Williams.
Highlights
Lyons is someone who has grown on us heavily over the last few years and he’s worked his way up to No.2 in the state in our latest rankings. Physically, another player whose well built. His pass rushing has taken great steps forward over the last few years and he consistenly overmatches his opponents.
Semaj Bridgeman Semaj Bridgeman 6’2″ | 235 lbs | LB Imhotep Charter | 2023 State PA is as physical as they come. Great size, great skillset. He’s an advanced linebacker for a high school senior and should be someone who at Michigan could see the field rather quickly. Don’t be surprsied if he’s a high impact starter for the Wolverines down the road.
Schlaffer has grown so much as a tight end over the last few years and he’s become one of the better tight ends in the country. Good, strong hands and solid in his blocking as well. We have no doubts that he will go onto Penn State and do great things for James Franklin’s program.
A tremendous athlete, Gallagher didn’t really do anything that made us want to drop him the few spots we did, the other players just impressed us a bit more over the last year. That being said, Gallagher is an immensly talented and athletic athlete who is only scratching the surface. Committed to West Virginia as a wide receiver, we’re excited to see what he brings to the Mountaineers.
Trotter is a lot like his father, Jeremiah Trotter and brother Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Josiah is a highly physical and high football IQ linebacker who is a great talent and someone we believe with time can develop into a multi-year starter for West Virginia.
Unfortunately, Robinson suffered a torn ACL during 2021 that has kept him for the entirety of the season. Therefor, there’s no new tape out there on Robinson. If he’s able to recover from his kene injruy fully, Penn State is getting a very good and very talented linebacker.
Great coverage cornerback who shows strong ball skills and can excel in both man and zone coverage. Great athlete as well with good speed and agility that will allow him to play at a high level at the collegaite level. Continued to show improvement in playing against the run.
A player that kept on rising for us over the last few reranks, White is a fun running back to watch thanks to his speed and elusivness. Not only can he run side-to-side but he can also run through the middle of the line if needed at a high level as well. Has a chance to be a dynamic weapon for Neal Brown’s West Virginia Mountaineers.
Highlights
While not the freak athlete that fellow Archbishop Wood tight end Kyle Pitts was, Dixon is a pretty good athlete himself and has great size. Shows quality hands and the ability to be a dangerous receiver in the middle of the field.
Talk about taking off on a rocket. Russell started this year outside our top 100. He’s now our No. 12 player in the state and is a bonafide Power Five wide receiver. Since his first game of the season against Imhotep, Russell showed that he was the best wide receiver that Bishop McDevitt had this season and he never stopped. Quality route runner, good athlete, and great ball skills to go along with a good catch radius.
Highlights
Another player who missed this season with an injury, Montgomery was our top running back before tearing his ACL, showing great vision to go along with his speed and agility that made him a fast riser on recruiting boards across the country.
The Roman Catholic offensive lineman is one of the biggest offensive lineman you’ll ever see. For someone of his size, he quite athletic and shows a strong foundation when it comes to his pass protection and run blocking abilities.
Highlights
Strong runner both to the outside and between the tackles that shows consitently strong vision as well as break away speed that allows him to get to the second and third level consistently. Strong production throughout his career and a major reason for Bishop McDevitt’s success the last few years including their state title this year.
Highlights
Haynes is a great route runner who has some of the best speed in the class regarldess of position as well as the agiltiy and elusiveness that makes him the most dangerous player in the state in the open field.
Highlights
Arena shows a strong foundation to go along with a body frame that could easily add another 15-25 pounds. Will need some time to continue developing in Blacksburg but has a chance to be a Power Five starter.
Highlights
Good sized wide receiver who shows advanced an route running skillset and strong hands. Good catch radius and open field speed. Had consitent production throughout his career at Dallastown.
Could’ve been ranked as a cornerback or athlete, Battle is one of the premier defensive backs in the state and was tremendous for Neumann-Goretti whenever he was on the field.
Great size and good athleticism for his size, Young has all the makings to be a key part of West Vriginia’s offensive line within a few years.
