Continue ReadingThe next time we see Rodney Gallagher Rodney Gallagher 6’0″ | 160 lbs | ATH Laurel Highlands | 2023 State PA III suit up, it will be for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Crazy to type out, considering we started covering this young man as a freshman at Laurel Highlands. He’s all grown up, finishing out his career as the top-rated senior athlete in the state of Pennsylvania. Elite playmaking ability, elite acceleration in the open field. The do-it-all DB, WR, and QB put on a show all Fall, nothing short of what we expected, however. We are all excited to see not only how Gallagher will develop from a body and mind perspective, but also how he will be utilized on the field at Morgantown.
Tyshawn Russell Tyshawn Russell 6’2″ | 185 lbs | ATH Bishop McDevitt | 2023 State PA ‘s meteoric rise is finally tangible in the form of a ranking. We can’t give a better compliment to the Bishop McDevitt Crusader other than ranking him right next to Rodney Gallagher Rodney Gallagher 6’0″ | 160 lbs | ATH Laurel Highlands | 2023 State PA . Despite Russell dominating secondaries all year long, I think the kid has the makings of an elite corner if molded correctly, especially if he’s molded by SEC staff. His body type could earn him money on the defensive side of the field. If not, he will separate at will and catch touchdowns for years to come. His play against an elite secondary in Aliquippa should solidify his stock, as well as his rank on our site.

During the course of the off-season, I had a feeling that Cruce Brookins Cruce Brookins 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Steel Valley | 2023 State PA should be in the nationally-ranked prospect. He floated around the top 50 for the duration of his career at Steel Valley. His overtly dominant performance at both Safety and quarterback forced our hand. This is a national recruit who isn’t getting the national spotlight that he should from the more prominent news outlets. I’m sure he could care less. The former Kent State commit now has his recruitment open, and is scheduled to sign on the 21 of this month. Pitt is expected to be where he lands, I see a bright future for the young man who could be staying close to home. Elite defensive back potential.

Davoun Fuse Davoun Fuse 6’4″ | 190 lbs | ATH Washington | 2023 State PA might be in the same boat as Cruce Brookins Cruce Brookins 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Steel Valley | 2023 State PA . Elaborating, Fuse would be deemed a national recruit had his name been mentioned more often. Fuse might not have a full senior tape out currently, yet piecing together some of his Fall singles, while also looking back at some junior tape, it’s hard to not think of him as a top-five athlete in his class. Not many 6’4 prospects can move in the open field as he can. Excited to see how Rutgers utilizes a prospect with this height/weight combination. Rutgers is close to home, would love to catch a Fuse game in the future.
I finally had a shot to witness this kid’s abilities firsthand. A deeper dive into his State Final performance will come in time, yet watching him work against a talented Westinghouse defense proved to me that he’s a real FBS player. I’ve seen him dominant in camp settings, I’ve seen him destroy kids on tape, on both sides of the ball. Now, I’ve had the chance to see what he’s capable of with pads on first-hand. The 40-speed translates on the field, especially on offense, even laterally at times. Witnessing what Wisloski can provide a program on both sides of the ball has me happy we ranked him as a top-five athlete in his class. More than deserving.
