Another safety that I’ve had on my radar this season that continued to impress during the playoffs is Sam Wright Sam Wright 6'2" | 160 lbs | DB Pikeville | 2024 State KY from Pikeville. Wright played a key role in their State Championship run, finishing the playoffs with 20 total tackles and one tackle for loss. He is very good against the run, filling the lane to provide support and finishing his tackles with a ton of physicality. Wright also has shown promise in pass coverage, doing a great job of read the play to put himself in a position to make plays. Once the ball is in the air, he comes downhill in a hurry to break up the pass. While he doesn’t currently hold any offers, I expect some to come his way going into his senior season as he has the talent to play at the next level.

Sam Wright Sam Wright 6'2" | 160 lbs | DB Pikeville | 2024 State KY is an under-the-radar safety that I am very high on and believe deserves more recognition. He is coming off a solid sophomore season in which he finished with 70 total tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble. Wright stood out to me against the run as he does a great job of reading the play and coming downhill to fill the running lane. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he does runs his feet on contact and does a good job of securing the tackle. In pass coverage, Wright has great route recognition skills and shows the ability to react at the right time to make plays on the ball. Sam doesn’t currently hold any offers but I believe that he is another name to keep an eye on as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

He had a strong sophomore campaign, finishing the season with 7o tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble. Against the run, Wright does an excellent job of reading the ball carrier and filling the lane. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable open field tackler. In pass coverage, Wright shows great route recognition skills and reads the play to break on the ball at the right time to make a play. Sam doesn’t currently hold any offers but I believe that they will come as he has the skill set to play at the next level.
