. Mullins lines up at right guard where he is very impressive as a run blocker. He does a great job of using his athleticism to his advantage when being asked to pull and get to the second level. Mullins gets to the second level with a sense of urgency and has shown the ability to pick up blocks with ease in the open field. When he gets to his defender, Zane has shown the ability to use his strong/physical punch to knock them off balance and finish the block quickly. Mullins has been hitting the camp circuit hard this offseason and I expect a lot of eyes to be on him heading into his sophomore year.

Mullins stepped into a full-time starting role as a freshman and got better as the year went on. He plays with good fundamentals, has solid strength, and looks like a player who’s been coached the right way from an early age. There aren’t many wasted movements in his game, and he consistently handles his assignment. Earning that kind of trust as a freshman says a lot by itself. He feels like a plug-and-play guy for the next three years, and I’d be surprised if he isn’t one of the names people are talking about near the top of this class as his career progresses.

is an explosive guard for Johnson Central. Considered one of the top offensive linemen in his class, he’s quick out of his stance and often initiates first contact with the defensive lineman. He stays low, extending his arms to help him win during one-on-one situations. Mullins sticks with his blocks and can take a defender out of a play in run schemes, but is just as reliable in pass protection. Heading into his sophomore season, Mullins remains one of the top players to watch on the Golden Eagles roster this fall.

is another right guard who stood out as a freshman. He was at his best as a run blocker this past season. Mullins showed the ability to pull and get out in front of the ball carrier in a hurry to serve as a lead blocker. Once he gets into the open field, he has shown the ability to pick up blocks with ease. Zane also plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to use his strong initial punch to knock defenders off their feet with ease. Mullins will be a player worth keeping an eye on as he continues to develop over the next three years.

had a strong game up front. In baseball, the Closer comes in to shut down the opposing offense and lock up the victory; While unfortunately R3 couldn’t lock up a victory, Mullins established himself as the closer of Region 2’s drives. On the first play of the second quarter, a fourth down play, Mullins sacked the opposing QB and caused a turnover on downs. A few minutes later in the same quarter, Mullins again caused a turnover on downs with a hit that echoed up to the press box. For good measure, the big man showed he’s more than a big body and recovered an onside kick attempt.
